Mineral White or Mineral Silver

The X5 in which we had the accident was Sparkling Brown. It was beautiful in the sunshine but we found it too difficult to keep clean. Now are finalizing the build for our new X5. I was pretty well sold on MW but my wife is leaning toward MS. The interior will be mocha.

They had not one vehicle at the dealership that was MS. So I don't know if that's because they "fly" off the lot because they are so popular or they are not ordered because not too many people want that color. Would someone who has MS be willing to post a few pictures? It would really be appreciated!

I like glacier silver personally better than mineral, but both are nice, I did mineral white due to the M-sport requirement I had and mineral silver is not an option if you want m-sport unfortunately.

Can't go wrong with MW or MS.

If you want to be unique go MS because 8 out of 10 X5's on the road are either white or black.

if I could do it again, I would order the Glacier Silver. I think that is the most beautiful color on the X5.

ditto - GS is gorgeous - especially with a either mocha or terra leather IMHO.

I have mineral silver with the mocha interior, and I love the color combination. I actually think that the MS goes best with the mocha interior. And the MS is pretty easy to keep clean, even during Colorado winters!

I've owned both. MS is far easier to maintain. MW is far more common.

Hi Matt, Which did you prefer?

Do you have any pictures of MS?

Sadly, no pictures of the MS. It was an X Line I ordered that the dealer took back after a month due to two ordering errors by them. In its replacement I went for an m sport, and MS is not available for that line.

I still prefer the MS. More subtle, easier upkeep, less common.

Yes I remember the the dealer issue you had with your first X5. I had forgotten.

You would think I could find a picture of an X5 in MS but have not. I would like to see it in the sun light. I've checked all the local (within 40 miles) and no one has one on their lot. Unless we can see one I guess we will go with the MW.

That's crazy that you cannot find one to see somewhere. I think X3 also comes in MS and 5 series also. You may want to look for some of those.

To me Mineral Silver has an almost champagne color tone to it. I personally don't think it's a very manly color. If this is a vehicle that will be predominantly driven by your wife, MS is a lovely and elegant color. If it were me, I would opt for the Mineral White or go with another color all together, perhaps Space Grey.

But that's just my opinion.

It does look Champagne to me as well. I like Glacier Silver better then Mineral Silver.

I was between MW and GS, ended up with MW since the 7 is Titanium Silver.

I love the MW, but I would have been happy with GC, MS eh not so much.

But who would pay for "champagne" but leave 'Lego' wheels on it?

Matt, thanks for taking the time and having the interest in sending me a picture of the MS vehicle. My wife is pretty much sold on this color and I'm still debating (but you know how these things go). I like the MW, but as has been mentioned, just about everyone has MW. Maybe it's time to try something different as we have had so many white vehicles.

Isn't it great to have choices!

I agree that mineral silver isn't the most manly color....if that really means anything. I do like mine but would have preferred the stereotypical silver or white and an M sport. But I was only going CPO so I was at the mercy of what was on the used lot. I will say though that is doesn't always look so champagney. Here is a link to my first post after the purchase, and the pic I posted looks much more like regular silver. About half the time my car looks silver, and the other it looks more goldish. Love the car in general and the price was right for the one I got, so the color really doesn't bother me. But if I Had the choice, I would have picked the gray, silver or white. http://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1170747

I did put the 19 inch m sport wheels on it though...made a big difference in the stance of the car with the lower offset. I'm happy for now....

LOL at the lego wheels

MS is not popular at all where I live ( NJ/NY ) have never seen any on any of the BMW dealer's lot (I have access to about 4 dealers where I live) and have never seen one on the road. I see about 4 to 6 F15 X5 on any given day.

If you get MS, it will be a unique color.

Here are a few more from one I spotted yesterday. I see about 15-20 per day in our neighborhood and the vast majority are white/black/silver. I see MS about 2-3x per week. This one was dirty and hiding it very well as did my first X5 which was in the same color. The cleaning maintenance on the MW requires patience and more love than I have for objects.
