Hey skierman64, did DeSimone let you drive it? I'm surprised they are selling their demo so soon.

They won't let anyone drive it in the rain. The CA said to stop by on a dry day and I could drive it.

The CA didn't say it, but I got the impression that a previous customer did something to an M car in the rain. Must be too much power for non-enthusiast drivers who want to buy the status symbol.

I somewhat understand not letting you drive in the rain, but at my age, I've been driving 24 years I know how to drive a car in the ran. I really don't thnk it will be vicious to drive in the rain. I know it's RWD etc. and some people are not used to that (?) don't really agree with the dealers on this but hey it's their money.
I almost prefer to test drive a car in less than ideal conditions (at least once and again) just to make sure it's not going to be a problem to drive in the rain. (don't think it is) seen the vid of the M3 on the Ring in the rain (granted he's a pro, but the point it's not like driving a F1 car in the rain, it's a modern almost GT car so probably it can get wet). I'd like to drive a car in great dry/warm etc.. conditions but don't mine a bit of damp or rain here or there, it shows you what the car will be like when you do have it. If it can't get wet that's a completely different car than I want to buy. |

I understood the issue. There's a lot of really bad drivers out there with no clue how to drive a Yugo let alone a $70K, 414hp, high performance sedan.
A friend of my parents totalled a brand new 300ZX turbo on a dealer test drive, when he spun it on a interstate on-ramp in the wet. The turbo spooled up mid corner and he didn't know how to drive the car when the back end broke loose.

I C
I don't really push any car on a test drive so for me driving in the rain would be more like I would normally drive the car (hold it back) but you could feel the limits but I also realize there is more risk when it's wet. I am sure some people could spin out a car in the dry also, meaning push it past it's limits possible in wet or dry. |

True, it's just that the limits of adhesion are much lower and easier to exceed in the wet.
