ESS 650 DCT M3 at NoFlyZone California Airstrip Event

The old girl still has it. She's got 36K miles on her now and 35K have been supercharged. Going on 4 years of tracking and airstrip events. Thousands of WOT pulls. Still as reliable as ever and still making full power.

Here's a vid of my races last Saturday at OmegaMotorsports NoFlyZone California.

Car set up for the event is exactly how I drive it every day. 19" ZCP wheels with Michelin PSS tires. Pump 91 with a couple gallons of e85 mixed in.

Big thanks again to Malek at MRF Engineering for setting the car up and taking care of her over the years. Just goes to show that even a highly modded car can be as or more reliable than stock if taken care of properly with the right combination of aftermarket performance parts.

Cheers.

I guess that answers AA vs ESS.....

Great having the 335i stock turbo FBO, too. That comes up all the time.

^^ Nice video as always!

Good to see the e9x S/C cars holding their own, including that AA car! that JB4 M4 must have been pretty shocked seeing you walk away from him so easily especially with the perception that a based tuned M4 will stay, or even walk, a S/C E9x M3...

That AA car was moving! Very impressive at 9% with stock internals!

I'm surprised more people don't upgrade the fuel system and run a custom tune with more boost on these upper level kits? Wonder what boost level these engines can actually hold?

Haha that's a pretty stout car and he's a great driver. I would bet Jimmy's is the fastest non-built motor AA SC out there pushing a lot more boost with a upgraded intercooler meth fuel system tuning, Catless exhaust, etc he's also running lighter apex 18's with r888's and other stuff. Gotta give him credit it's well built, sorted and very fast. This is no off-the-shelf AA blower car.

Before racing I knew it would pull on me just didn't know at what point. Remember this is my daily set up and there was zero race fuel in my car for that race and this was a hot lap run I did - it occurred immediately after I raced the red camaro. So I was very happy with the outcome.

We did race once before outcome was the same but I forgot to turn on the GoPro.

Gotta give props where its due.

Were you running ice in the tank?

Observations:

1) Still can't get behind the exhaust sound of the F8x platform.
2) You did a hellified job of ruining the myth that a s/c'ed E9X can't hang w/a modded F8X.
3) If you were actually running the ice tank, it seems to be paying off in spades. I'm really curious to know how your IATs did throughout the day.
4) I absolutely LOVE the fact that you literally "run what you *brung*", i.e., you race the car at the events in the EXACT same configuration you run it on the street.
5) I see you didn't fare to well against one of my future acquisitions (P1 ), but it was good to see how much that car has in it.
6) That R8 V10 beating tho!

Excellent job, excellent job.

No ice in the race against the AA car as it was a hot lap run.

I did put ice in it when I ran it the first time which wasn't video'd but the outcome was the same. Close for a while but the AA car pulled in the upper gears.

If it were a mile race that car would be way ahead of me.

Awesome race against a car that is essentially higher boost on race gas. great race. Your videos are always excellent and entertaining. The gap on the m4 was pretty damn impressive.

P1s running the both the gasoline engine (727hp) and electric motor (177hp) simultaneously output 904hp. Pretty sure that car was stock, as I don't know of anyone messing around with that supercar. Very, very complex.

Funny thing was that I was going to jokingly ask Longboarder if any P1s showed up, but I watched the video first. Nice to see the owner of a $1.5+ million car not being afraid to run it like it was meant to be run.

Are you sure you're not thinking of the more common place MP4-12C (592hp)?

whats77inaname - you are correct, I was just thinking about the motor HP, but the electric motor(s) adds another 177.

Thank you. I think the M4's need meth and e85 and a couple other things to hang with the 650 kit.

Good question wish I knew. I'm happy with the car and don't want to mess with adding more boost and fueling. That's where things can go wrong...chasing the last HP.

Thx. The 5 gallon water tank is the best mod. I didn't even need to put ice in it. As long as the water temps stay below 115 degrees F, the car runs at it's full potential. Without the tank, the water can really heat up at it circulates through the hot engine bay.

Yea 904 HP stock. But hey it's a $2 million hypercar. Racing it was the highlight of my day. Just wish I had brought my 997 - thinking it would have been a very close race.

Stroker VT3? Wow. Now that will be quite something. Glad you are going with Drew's fuel system.

Great runs! Any interesting comments or questions from folks about your boosted M3 at these things, especially from non BMW drivers?
