Titanium Lightweight ordered!

Hi all.

I've ordered the lightweight Titanauspuffanlagen titanium slip on system for the 1m, with matte tips. Booked in to have it fitted next week.

From videos i've seen it's the best sounding exhaust for the 1m, and i hope that even more importantly it's going to reduce the motorway drone that exists just over 2000rpm as stock.

Very excited, keep posted for pics etc!

How does it sound if you say that out loud? Anyway, I love titanium. The strength of steel, the weight of aluminum, the price of really expensive coffee per lb.

Congrats! I ordered an Akrapovic slip-on and I'm installing it together with the N55 mids in 10 days. Keeps us updated!

Just for the record, titanium is nearly twice as "heavy" as aluminum - about 1.7X the density, and just under 60% of the weight of steel..

Define "really expensive coffee" in descriptive terms and in price per pound

Did they make you a discount? How high was the shipping cost? I contacted them too before ordering the Akrapovic and the cost was 2300 before shipping, I thought it was too high.

Looks nice and I'll be interested in your feedback.

Shame they don't still supply the CF tips for it/standard.

Strength to weight is similar to aluminum, not density.

Lets see some pics of it assembled on the floor! I love this exhaust. Wish I could hear it in person.

It sounds mega

This is my favourite exhaust for the 1M, though without the valve kit I thought it might be a bitch much so went for the HMS instead. Beautiful bit of kit though.

Enjoy!

Understood; many people think Ti is some magic almost-floating metal. Considering strength-to-weight and the issues around things that can't be made too thin, in practice you don't really save all that much with titanium vs. steel for many applications. Typically maybe 25%.

Bicycle tubing is a good example: based on strength-to-weight ratios, you would wind up with very thin-walled titanium or aluminum tubing for the same size and it would dent or beer-can very easily, so they have to make it lots thicker than steel tubing would need to be.

Interested to hear some sound clips of this thing, they're super rare, and although the catted mids are going to quiet it down some it will still sound fantastic I'm sure.

Some well tuned systems do remove the highway drone at 2K+ rpm. My akra system with the valves shut is amazingly quiet on cruise.

Looking forward to your update!

It's on!! first impression on the 10 minute drive home is that it's absolutely fantastic. It’s not much louder than standard, but the noise is nice, it’s more free flowing and pops a little more. It’s a higher pitched noise than standard. The big test will be this weekend when I go on the motorway. I’m hoping for no drone at 70mph! The workshop commented on how fantastic the fit and finish is, which is nice when you spend this kind of money. Overall very happy. Pics and vid to follow.
