Valve Cover Refinishing - Any Good Options?

To those of you that have had your valve covers refinished, whether because you replaced the gaskets or just found the OEM self-peeling finish repulsive, any information regarding what you did would be appreciated. I have not found anything particularly conclusive as to what they are made of (aluminum or magnesium), and information on refinishing processes/materials is even more scarce as to the S65.

If you refinished your valve covers, please indicate what you used, whether you had it professionally done (and by whom), and whether it has held up better than the OEM finish.

Thanks!
