HUD out of focus
Has anyone else had the HUD out of focus?
It's very noticeable when scrolling through your songs/channels. And before anyone asks, yes I changed my seating position, and well as the height and rotation of the HUD itself. No joy. |

Looks good to me, what's the problem?
Check the HUD screen for Armor All or other cleaning solution. If not sounds like a service issue to clean or focus the lens.

Make sure the "hud bay" or whatever it's called on the dashboard is clean. Mine gets very dusty but a quick wipe with a microfiber cleans it up nicely.

Keep in mind, I've had 4 BMW's in the past with HUD, and currently two 2016's with it. Seems I'm the only one. Sucks, I don't want them pulling my dashboard apart. |

Dumb question, was it blurry from day one or did the blurriness happen to coincide with a windshield replacement? A few years ago I had to have my X5's front glass replaced and even though they ordered the right glass for the HUD it looked blurry as hell. It took 3 windshields before it was right.

Just hoping to help -- if the HUD "bay" is clean, what about the windshield itself?
I use a local car wash that's very good (they do dealer cars for delivery) and last time there, they mucked up the rear window. Something was definitely on that microfiber cloth that left a residue which I noticed after a day or so. Just thinking out loud here.... |

No resolution.. they can try and pull the HUD... I'm just not sure if I want them doing it. Kinda not worth the risk of getting squeaks and rattles... |

Yes, agree. Had the dealership work on it for 1 hour according to the invoice although the it was free because of warranty. No difference in the focus compared as before and now it rattles once in a while.

That's very bizarre, check the pic in this Rheingold document, it almost looks like yours.
There is a HUD geometric adjustment procedure in Rheinfold but can't recall if it had something related to out of focus issues. I'll check next time I connect to my car. I use the HUD all the time and couldn't endure this! Taking out the dash is quite a bit if work but you can tell them to take the opportunity to apply felt tape or whatever in the trouble areas. Sorry, that really sucks! |

That's impossible that they take out the HUD in one hour, so most likely they did useless stuff... The HUD/instrument cluster is known to rattle, sorry!

OP, sorry, as suspected the RHeingold procedure is mostly geometric representation adjustment.
