Think you're missing a couple of options for this straw-poll.

Should be:
  • Yes: no fix attempted
  • Yes: fix attempted but did not address root-cause
  • Yes: fix attempted and issue resolved
  • No

I *had* the "wheel bearing issue" but it's since been resolved with a proper fix

Does the F15 have the wheel bearing issue or is it exclusive to the F85?

Good idea. How was it "fixed"? I had the dealer install the wheel spacers according to that service bulletin. The noise came back after a few days....

Bad percentages so far. Do the M5's have the same problem?

I do not yet, no issues but I only have a 1000 miles so far. Did this occur for all of you from the start or was it after a certain mileage reached?

fix attempted but did not address root-cause. First popped up at 3K miles. How bogus.

Those of you who say "fix attempted" what exactly did the dealer attempt? Just the wheel spacers?

I've heard it a handful of times on mine but I have to listen carefully. 5,200 miles on mine.

Short answer:
  • Went to dealership; they performed BMWNA prescribed fix SIB 34 05 15 ("Install Friction Washer") initially
  • Dealer noted prescribed fix did not resolve issue; immediately turned around and ordered wheel hub replacements (both L and R)
  • Wheel hubs replaced under warranty - all work proactively completed by local dealership wih no need to drive results from my side
  • Clicking sound eliminated - been over 1k miles since fix

Detailed write-up in the Wheel Bearing Issues thread here.

Partially correct for me. Initial attempt was SIB 34 05 15 ("Install Friction Washer"). Dealer noted fix did not address the root-cause of the issue and immediately moved to replacing the wheel hubs - no need to drive the process from my side, all the while in communication with me of progress / status.

So assuming the bearings are the same, from the same manufacturer etc., if you just replace them one would assume that the clicking would come back eventually. Maybe if the friction washers are installed in conjunction with a fresh set of bearings (before they start clicking), that will prevent them from starting to click.

Been in twice already. First dealer just replaced bearings . Noise back in 3 days....2nd dealer installed the dampening washer. Noise is not there as bad but I can hear it on the initial turn on of an aggressive turn....it used to be clicking through whole turn, now it clicks on initial turn in torque and then I can't hear it anymore. I will go back once it's noticeable again so they can't tell me they don't hear the noise....il be loocking for the full Hub replacement. If no luck with that I'll be looking for a 4th visit and be leaving without the truck. Waited a long time to get an m vehicle and this has been enjoyment deflating for sure!

I really wish there was a BMW rep trolling these forums. When I had my ford raptor there was a ford service rep on the forums and she was all over stuff like this. She'd take you're info and dealer info and escalate it before the truck even went in.
