Anybody know where this happened? I'm guessing somewhere in Europe.

I'm betting it's in Europe as well. Not long ago a fellow member parked his M50d at a commuters train parking lot somewhere in Europe and returned with a missing idrive screen. Stuff like this happens a lot and people that buy used stuff on eBay and Craig's list are fueling it

Not uncommon in Western Europe. Eastern European gangs go on "sprees" and are back home in their own country before you wake up. Gotta love open borders

ODB port connection - take a couple of seconds

Obd has already been shutdown with a hidden switch. But still, how can they reach the obd without causing the alarm to go off? I don't care if the cut right through the dash, that's something for the insurance company. I want to keep them busy as long as I can so I have more change in catching them with the motion detection cameras. No problem if they wreck the car, as long as I got a shot at wrecking them. If you touch a man's car, all bets are off and it's eye for an eye.

That's brutal man! Happy to have my vehicles parked safe and secure inside my attached garage, with is fully alarmed (including motion). No patience for thieves. They were definitely in there a while, no?

A cousin had his entire dashboard stolen from his 5 series parked on the street in Milan. BMW said that has become very common there.
This is what happens in Russia: http://inventorspot.com/articles/por...-ransom-russia And in the Netherlands: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/1...n_2272035.html |

Yes there was, especially with e90 in combination with the pourly designed doorlock. Just put a hidden switch somewhere in your car which blocks using the obd port.
