Highway steering woes.
hey guys, there is no steering (based) section, as I dont know where else to put this thread, other then here since I'm fairly sure its electrically related.
I just got my '04 3.0I SMG from Saskatoon, thats a 7 hour drive from Calgary. On that LONG drive, I noticed the car constantly "locks" the steering wheel into the neutral position, meaning I have to exert extra force just to break it out of this "hold" I'm not too sure if this is magnetic, or what creates this, but obviously this isn't a problem in city driving, the car assumes this is a wanted feature on the highways, but makes minor adjustments on the cars direction very tedious. is there anyway to turn this off at all? The car never came with an owners manual. Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance. |

The issue you are describing is due to the electric steering setup on your car. It's a common issue, and here's a few threads on it:
http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=66132 http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=71024 I dunno exactly how it feels like since I don't have an electric steering setup. But I hope the above info helps. Welcome to the forum, BTW. |
