Voice Memo's not playing when connected to Apple Car play..

Hi guys, I have been playing around with Apple CarPlay and am not convinced that I will continue to use it over iDrive functions. You can switch between the two but as another member on the forum said its a bit clunky.

My question is does anyone who currently has Car Play tried to play a voice memo? Maybe there is something I am doing wrong. On the phone it gives the option of playing over Car Play, Speaker and iPhone, I select Car Play but it doesn't help. Any ideas?
