Cold Tire Pressure for Track Day

Heading out on Thursday to Pacific Raceways here in Seattle. Looked through all the threads but couldn't find good recommendation for cold tire pressure all around. Running stock PSC2's. Just going to run it at street height but with max aero so Captain Unknown GT4 doesn't give me shit if he finds out.

Any inputs would be appreciated!

I too, will watch this thread, as I'm hopefully hitting Area 27 in southern BC next Monday, assuming the wildfires don't interrupt anything...

Hello.
Street height is not recommended for track.

Hehe, Please dont take It out to track at street height, its will not deliver the real GTS experience then. Street Is for street, not for track.

You will also not get the best out of them tires when roll and pitch the car around track In high street setting.

1.6 bar front and rear cold get my tires to propper hot pressure 2.3 front and 2.1 rear(bar)

Still Its Individual Hence how one load and heat up tires and also depend on chassie setting, so you might end up wrong hot pressure If start 1.6 bar all tire. Street set chassie on track will give tire a harder time and I would not even bother take a GTS to track If street height and street rebound/compression.

Also I would say On the porky lump GTS its better to start to go out on track on normal hot street pressure (not start low 1.6 cold bar) and go easy a few laps then lower down to propper 2.3bar hot front and 2.1 bar hot rear. (...this instruction Is also In GTS track Book )

My 2 cents:-)

I started 25.5 F and 24.5 R and after a couple laps I was up to 33/31psi. It was in the mid 70's ambient.

Just to remind, Please read BMW M trackbook that came with all GTS cars world wide. They go In to detail in terms of best preformance on track! Also aero part is coverd here. GTS will not pull them high G and drive fast like racecar feel ...If you drive GP track layout street chassi. BMW tell you to pull that splitter out/ set big angle rear wing and lower car to achive optimal track preformance ( to pull high G and make car handle propper on track downforce etc is real on car and make a difference, also its chassie is propper)

I am truley amazed how few accually read this special track Book instruktion. It make me want to ask you guys If USA even got this special GTS track instruction Book?

I read the book but also can't get the car into my driveway lowered. They ran it on the Nurburgring at street height with max aero and it did ok. I get that I won't get the most out of it without lowering it but this was the first time out and I didn't have much time to prep.

All that being said, had a great day, car is amazing, much better than my E92 M3 and I'll be going out again in August. Thanks for the tips on the pressures, tires held up just fine with very even wear.

Cool, its sit low and Is a hazzle to get In to even my garage, so I understand of course👍🏻

Nurburging Is a street, nothing else! Its only a contryroad flowing past 3 small towns in the eifelmountains. Its so far from a normal track you could ever get, its not accually a track, its a nornmal road and Looks like them other roads in the aerea more or less.

As I mentioned many Times, street chassie Is only for street! Nur Is mother of al streets.

All other GP tracklayout car must sit low track setting, If want the GTS to preform well. This Is what many magazines got wrong. This Info Is In the trackbook aswell.

'Nur is the mother of all streets'

I'm going to quote you on that! It is so true though...

On topic: 1.6 cold all 4 worked for me too, but you need to warm them up before driving hard, otherwise they were scrubbing a lot..
