How to open front hood (broken cable)

When I pull on the handle located on the driver's side, the front hood won't open. Is there any way of manually opening the hood? If so, could you explain/pictures would be helpful. Thanks!

You still gotta release the latch under the hood near the emblem. Maybe the release cable broke?

1. try to determine at which end the cable broke or is not working. If its under the dash near the handle, you might get away with vise grips or pliers to pull the cable.
2. if its at the hood latch itself, then that's another story. Almost any body shop will be able to open it for you.

E30's had an emergency set up to open a hood with a broken cable.

I have this same problem... anyone ever able to get in through kidney opening? Need to put in oil.. oil light went on and went to fill but heard pop. I used pliers and tried to pull cable manually from the lever but it doesn’t do anything.
