Fantastic ED Trip with a few pics
Just got back on Saturday. Amazing trip First off – I want to thank the members of this forum and ED experts for all of their help over the many months of planning that went into our trip. Just got back from 14 days in Ireland, Germany and Switzerland. Started in Ireland, got over jet lag and had a wonderful time with friends in Galway and Dublin. Then flew to Munich, arrived in the morning, did some sightseeing – Marian Platz, Hofbrau house, etc. and then off to pick up car the next morning. Wonderful experience at the Welt and museum. Had to catch the factory tour upon our return when we dropped off car as plant was shut down. Then Fussen to see the Neuschwanstein castle. Took some photos and off to our hotel. Then two days in Weggis (wonderful town on Lake Lucerne) Used as base to do the alpine passes. Drove Gothard, Furka, Grimsel, and Susten passes. Was awesome. Then through the Black Forrest and up to Baden Baden – beautiful town with historic baths (which depending on day are either coed or separated). Got the 800 miles in had service lined up on way to Nürburgring. All went perfect and met my co-pilot at the RSR safety meeting and then off to the ring. Did 4 laps. Was both scary and great fun. Would definitely not do the ring without a co-pilot who knows the track intimately. For those of you familiar with Top Gear and guest star Sabine Smitz – we ended up unknowingly staying at her and her boyfriend’s hotel the Long Horn Saloon. Had drinks with them late into the evening. Was a great day! Back through Heidelberg (one spot probably would not go back to but was a convenient stopping point.) Two nights in Rothenburg ob der Tauber – great medieval town. Parked car and walked / explored town for two days. Great fun. Then back to Munich to drop car off. Now the wait begins, which will be tough, miss the car already. Again thanks to all for your assistance through this process. Was invaluable.

When you have a moment could you let me know where that lot is? We know of the lot up on Bezoldweg, but are not sure if it is safe. Was it outside the walls?

It is right up the street from the hotel away from the city center. Literally 2 blocks up and one to the right and still within the walls and appeared to be quite safe. If you email them they may be able to give you the exact address. It is outside, not a garage, but is walled. Uploaded a pic of map, the X near the Q is the hotel. The G circled up top is approx. where the parking lot is. Hope this helps. Have a great trip. Loved the town. Definitely do the night watch tour it is a kick.

Sabine Schmitz? Holy crap. That would be the highlight of my trip. You should've asked her to take you around the Ring in a Ford transit van
Sounds like you guys had a great time, thanks for sharing.

Yes we were stunned at our good fortune and literally right after I had driven the ring. Whole thing was fantastic.
