2018 discount?

7% discount gets me to invoice correct? Is that the going discount for a 2018 comp package, 6 speed?

Is that good? Average? Thoughts please. Thanks.

close estimate is: base msrp (less destination) * .92 and then add destination (995).

ex: MSRP = 70995, vehicle invoice = (70000 * .92) + 995.

Or, flat out ask for full transparency from dealer and request to see true invoice. Edmunds is a good estimate as well but doesn't cover M-performance goodies.

Thank you.

Mods feel free to move. I just located the pricing section. My apologies.

But all CAs I talked to insist on 6% between MSRP to invoice on M3/M4

At the end you pay what they are willing to let the car go for. Always good if you have many dealers in your area else they win

Technically it is roughly 6% as there is no discount for the Destination charge of $995.

I prefer to deal in whole dollars and not percentages. The way I see it, you can't "spend" percentages or ratios. Calculate invoice in dollars and use that as the basis for negotiation as there's more transparency that way.

That's what I did, I gave him dollar break down with dollar final price to avoid any confusion like MACO, training, reg fee etc etc etc.

At the end all CAs say, I am trying to buy the car at 1% over invoice. That's not going to happen; but according to all discussion it's more than 2% over.

Like I say it's whatever dealer wants for the car not what I want for the car that matters.

76,395 MSRP

76,395 - 995 = 75,400

75,400 .92 = 69,368 + 995 + 180 (?) = 70,543

Current offer is 71,000 so just a few bucks above invoice. Or close enough.

that's an awesome deal, I would say. It's amazing how many dealers still refuse to sell below MSRP for this car.

I live among Amazoners, you can't beat new money, it comes hard and fast unlike old money

For typical M3 after tax and license, for Amazoner it's only 85 shares of stock, why would my local dealer give the car to me for 2% over invoice

Don?t forget the 5% ?trunk money? that the dealership receives from BMW NA. If you give all 0?s on the post -sale survey, then it goes from a 6%+ profit margin for the dealership to significantly less.

Wait, so for US delivered car there is 5% trunk money (assuming the full score survey by buyer)?

Can someone explain "trunk money" and give an example how it works or can be negotiated?

It varies by manufacture. But here it is basically money that the dealer gets from the manufacture for selling a certain volume/car as an incentive to move vehicles with a good experience (a kickback if you will). When you do ED for example, the trunk money is not really there so that savings gets passed on to the buyer. This is not the most detailed explanation because there is some mystery here that needs to remain confidential, but it can RARELY be negotiated unless you have a really good relationship. But basically it is how once and a while you see one of these deals for under invoice without incentives, but they are as rare as pink unicorns.

I need something that shows that BMW covers the $1500 the dealer takes off the car.

However, the Alumni discount is $3000.
