Is Ice Blue a BMW color?
Not sure I'm posting this question in the correct section but, I just came across this color on the web called ice blue. Can anyone confirm this is an actual individual color and not a aftermarket paint job? Thanks!

If it is an BMW individual performed paint job, it should have a plate that looks like this:

For BMW Individual Paints, my understanding is that BMW will pretty much paint your car any color they can formulate, but this is an area that there does not seem to be much rhyme or reason. If it's a color they have done before the cost is around $5k I think currently, if it is a color they have not formulated, I have read that the cost is $7500. I know one forum member tried to get a McLaren Volcano Red M4, but after much back and forth with BMW it did not work out. Here is that thread: http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1043013 I also have read that at certain times, certain "standard" individual colors are not approved; again, no real rhyme or reason. Regardless, if you are considering ordering a car with an individual color, you need to find a dealer versed in the process and let them send an official inquiry for any color you are considering.

The reason why I asked about this particular color is because I saw a photo of a E36 in Ice Blue browsing through the web. I wasn't sure if this is an OE color or an aftermarket paint job, so I posted the question here. After doing some homework, I am convinced this is a OE color and BMW should paint a car Ice Blue through the individual program without any issues. Thanks for the feedback. |
