Noisy Tailgate

Anyone have creaking coming from the back? Not sure if it's the plastic or the latch itself.

I noticed a sound like that in the back i always thought it was the tail gate but then i closed the trunk cover that folds so you cant see whats in the trunk and the noise was gone. Try that and let me know hopefully thats the odd fix. Maybe it needs a pad when folded open so it doesn't make noise.

I always keep mine closed so it's not that. Guess the dealer may have to grease the latch.

Oh damn was hoping that was it mine might be the same thing let me know if you fix it. I just know I don't hear mine when it's closed but my girlfriend sat in the back and held the top plastic of the trunk and it went away as well so I might be wrong about mine as well. Just noticed it comes and goes but I only notice it with the cover open.

It could also be all the plastic on the door. Going to experiment this weekend to see if I can quiet it down.

Trying the electrical tape on the hook method. Will report back after a drive or two.

what if you forego the electrical tape and simple readjust the latch to be inward more making the tailgate have a tighter seal?

I did attempt to get at it, but had trouble getting some of the plastic pieces off. At the very least I know that's the source of the problem. It's quieter now, so I'll just have the dealer take care of it next time it's in.

They adjusted the latch and stopping points. Apparently it was too "tight." They also lubricated all door seals as well. All good again.

Bump

Has anyone gotten this resolved successfully?
I had it in to the dealership and they had a service bulletin that was supposed to address this. They did the work and the creak is back.
Its a torquey creak from the rear tailgate when the frame is even slightly twisted, like pulling into a parking spot with a small drain, etc.
Driving me nutso

The tailgate latch doesn't make noise, but all the plastic surround still does. Don't think there's a fix for that.

It's an issue for sure, just like the creaky door seals.

Has taken mine already a couple of times. It gets corrected and comes backs 2K miles after. They have tried to blame it on the fact that I have an Eisemann exhaust and the vibration from the exhaust loosens stuff around the tailgate. I have had many other cars with exhaust and no issues ever.

Take it to the dealer and have them adjusted.
