Risk of catching fire in the engine.

Affects versions of the 3-series, 5-series, X5, X3 and Z3.
Apparently a part can melt in the engine compartment causing fire even if the vehicle is not in operation.

hmm wonder if this affects the x5m, glad it doesn't say x6 or the m but wonder if those are also affected given the article doesn't have much info on sub models

Not sure but since it says X5 we have to wait for the call/letter/Email...off to the service center lol. At least they'll take care of whatever it is. I'm hoping members here will keep all of us informed.

No sir - only 2007-2011 6 cylinder models. So it would have been the x5 3.0 back then.

Someone's F86 X6M burned 2 years ago , here in Europe.

I don't think that we should be worried , this happens to all brands ...
