Thoughts on stock 18's with black sedan...
Hi all - I'm working up my order list for a fall delivery (hey, its never too early). I'm partial to 18's in general vs. 19's since:
I track the car frequently and burn through rubber! This is my DD so I may put snows on in the winter 18" tires are much more common and cheaper than 19's Softer ride for the newborn I like the graphite look vs. shiny in general $1200 option for the 19's, I could save a few bucks since the M3 is already pushing my budget Anyway, all the pics I've seen the 18's look great with lighter colored cars (white, red) but I dont like as much with black. What do you all think about the 18's on a jet black sedan? I normally like the contrast on black.... tia

It's really up to you, as you know. I think the 18's look terrible no matter the exterior color, but there are other who feel the opposite. Just personal preference. If you're hesitant however, get the 19s or upgrade after you purchase. You want to be completely satisfied with your purchase. No sense in paying money to be unhappy.

Same problem, just agreed on Jet Black also with the wife but we think the combo makes the car look very dark. If your going to track your car, keep the 18s for the track, throw on some real race rubber when your ready and get some 19's afterwards for the daily driver rims. Keeps the initial cost low and gets you a set of play rims.

I like the gunmetal 18" look, especially with jet black. When I get aftermarket rims, I'm gonna go gunmetal with a jet black exterior.

No one can help you make a decision solely on taste as each person may think differently as you will already have noted but when things turn to more technically matters then the 18" will be the better combination. It will have a softer transition at the limits of grip, it will ride better, the steering should also feel sweeter and there is the matter of cheaper replacements. But all of the above will be slight improvements, it's really up to you whether these improvements out weigh the smaller diameter alloy.

I saw a car with this exact combo the other day in Ypsilanti, MI. It looked absolutely menacing. I mean it was just the baddest ass sedan I've ever seen in person. It really made me think twice about IB for a moment (but just for a moment). I too really like those 18s.
But regardless, if I were you, I'd get a second set of wheels for the winter tires. That way its a very quick job to change them and you could potentially do it yourself in a pinch. Also, its a lot less wear and tear on the both the wheels and the tires. You'll be able to pick up stock 18's on ebay for a song soon anyway. Or, as noted in another thread, you could use four E46 M3 rears also for winters and those are available in used condition at for like $500 for all four. |

I have a set of 4 hyper black csl rep's from my E46 M3 winter use, the offset is 40mm front and 22 rear. Will these fit on the E90 M3?

I have both 18's and 19's and much prefer the 18's on a dark car.

Dude, your car looks hot with the 18's do you have additional pics of them? I would get JB, however I dont think it will make much of a difference.

Not sure I'd use those fronts without a spacer (and I'm no fan of spacers personally). They might fit without them, but you might run into clearance issues on the inside plus the car probably won't handle right, and also it will look dorky IMHO.
