White flakes coming from vents

Hey everyone, just purchased a 2017 x5m. I'm just discovered white flaky stuff coming out of the vents with heater and ac on. It's annoying since it's covers my interior. I've set an appointment with the dealer to get it checked out. Has anyone had this type of issue before?

Was the dealer able to pinpoint the problem?

Is it ice crystals, like sometimes on an airplane there are snowflakes coming out of the vents?

Update. They think it's the evaporator but the advisor said they want to do more research on it to see if it is that before they change it. I guess I have to wait until they do that to get it fixed.
