M drivers course that comes with M drivers package

Has anyone on here done the course that comes with the M drivers package? I’ve owned my car for a little over 2 months and still haven’t received a letter or email giving me more information.
1. How long did you have to wait for the course?
2. What is included, what happens during the course?
3. My dealer said I would be able to choose between different locations, is that true?

I would love to go to francorchamps or the nürburgring!

Never heard of that, nor have I ever been offered that on previous M cars...

Maybe it’s a European thing? This is a Dutch article that mentions the training, maybe google will translate it correctly for you.

It’s also mentioned here. https://www.bmw-m.com/en/topics/acce.../packages.html

THE M DRIVER'S PACKAGE.

Fast. Faster. M.

The increase in maximum speed with the M Driver’s Package sets new limits for the performance of your BMW M. More driving pleasure, together with more safety. Part of the M Driver’s Package is a voucher for a BMW M Intensive Training with the BMW Driving Experience.

Having just read the Dutch article - it does surprise me that I have never been offered that in the UK, nor seen that option. Thanks for the link, will follow up.

My X5 M in Southern Europe came with the M driver option. After the 1200 mi service I asked my Service Agent about the pre-paid driving course and after few days I got all the details and course dates, locations and types (there are many).

I choose the 1+1/2 day course at Hockenheim and my wife joined me, with a special rate for her one.

The course was perfectly organized and quite intensive, with a very good Australian instructor - at the end we both were quite tired but very satisfied.

Cars were M4's and you spent hours learning about their behaviour in limit conditions. At the end we got an USB drive with a video (with speed & g data superimposed) for every minute of our driving.

The course gave us a lot of confidence with "I've been there" experiences completely unavailable in ordinary driving but still realistic, such as "unexpected desperate braking" at 100 mph to full stop in a tight turn.

Highly recommended - and yes, you may then verify the removal of the speed limiter on a no-limit German autobahn, although those extra 20+ mph are fun to explore occasionally but, in my opinion, do not feel like a natural type of operation for an X5 M.

Exactly the kind of information that I was looking for, thanks! And to be honest I rarely go 120 mph or faster, I think that’s risky enough because our roads are full of street traps. For me the acceleration to the speed limit at traffic lights is where the fun is at, to then see all the boy racers finally catching up and flying past

Then you should definitely take advantage of this program. I participated in the 2-day M school event after getting my M last year. It allows you to drive the car a little closer to the limit that it is designed to handle that you will rarely if ever be able to do on a public road.

I purchased the M Driver’s Package with my 2018 X5 M. I received a voucher after reminding my dealership. I had to wait until late February for the M Intensive Driver Training course dates / tracks to become available. The course dates became available on 21 Feb 18.

Based on the fact that I am leaving Germany this summer, I was limited to a course in the next 90 days. I registered and used my voucher to book training dates for April of this year at the Lausitzring AKA Eurospeedway Lausitz. I will be driving the new 2018 M5. Same as previous post. I think an evening of verbal driving training, followed by a track day.

@Montesquieu1748 Please provide feedback regarding the Driving Experience with the new M5. I have taken 3 programs so far in Germany and thinking about the 2 day M5 ring training late September this year. In the US, BMW NA has been including a free 1 day car control class program in the welcome package, which is valued at $850 USD and can be apllied to a M school. The US PC staff told me that the 1 day M program is significantly better than M Track Program. You'll enjoy the Driving Experience training.

It is a $2500 option when building the vehicle.
It is on the site.

I will definitely provide feedback. Looking forward to driving the new M5, and experiencing Eurospeedway Lausitz. On the drive there I will see if I can find a stretch of Autobahn where I can get my X5 M up to 178 mph (the new limit after purchasing the M Driver's Package for the X5 M). My M Intensive Driver Training dates are 8-9 April.
