BMW interiors
Hey everyone. Is it just me or is BMW really falling behind Mercedes and others when it comes to interior quality and updated design. I love my M6 don’t get me wrong but she I see the new Mercedes e63s and the BMW M5 I would choose the Mercedes everyday. They are both fast but that Mercedes sounds 100x better an that interior and tech blows the BMW away. I am waiting for th 8 series but if it’s not leaps and bounds better than I think this may be my last BMW for a while. Just curious others feelings.

The full large led screens, ambient lighting, and just over all fit and finish and feel. When you sit in the mercs it just feels and looks the luxury part. I get bmw is performance driving experience but they need to step up the interior game.

The M5 is behind? Which one, the E60? What are you talking about? From my point of view all the Mercedes’s interiors are shitty and made for old farts... I would take the new 5 series interior over E class any day! And say again, what was that new tech that Mercedes’s have apart from their shitty gear boxes? I just finished shopping for a brand new car and decided to go with a new M6 because when I sat in a new E63 I felt like puking... but then again, and I underline, this is my personal opinion... To each their own!

I am referring to the interior tech not transmissions. I have been in both the new M5 and new E63s and in my opinion and may others I have asked feel the BMW isn't at the same caliber with quality of leather, large led screens, ambient lighting, etc. It of course is an opinion and like I said I love my M6 but its hard to argue that BMW has put as much effort in their interior design and quality as it has in its engines and performance.

My warranty is almost done in my m6 and I have cross shopped the new m5 and e63s and I am having a hard time justifying getting either one. I think the m6 looks better than both on the exterior and does not even look dated yet. The all wheel drive is tempting but from a roll I am sure I am just as quick with my tune.

Yah daddymalu I know what you mean. I almost pulled the trigger on the 2018 Range Rover sport svr but couldn’t do it. It got a mild facelift but I know it’s close to getting redone since the future of the rover look is like the Velar, which is beautiful. I figure I’ll Keep the m6 for another year or until the M8 comes out. I’m really hoping it is a new more aggressive look like the concepts I’ve seen.

I had a 2017 AMG C63s Coupe and it's interior I felt was cheap compared to my 2017 M6 coupe. Not much in options for interior colors for the merc either - my pick for a white interior was limited to really small areas compared to the M6. The M6 interior also feels more "solid" with no squeaks or rattles compared to the AMG. The AMG just felt cheap.
The AMG Speedometer display is also rather lacking (boring) when compared to the M6 as well. The display was a joke in the Mercedes too - no split screen and looks like an IPad was an after thought and slapped in place. My daughter's first words when she first got in the car and gazed at the interior was "did you add that IPad to the dash?" ... lol (I can laugh now - but wasn't amused at the time) my 2cents worth... Sure - for $45k more... or for $45k less get an AMG C63s Coupe. M6 coupe is in between
just my 2 cents per my experience with both manufacturers... |

...and no Ebrake of any kind either. At least my M4 still has a good ol fashioned brake handle I can yank on! Lol

Speaking of interiors...
The M6 dash has an ergonomic design flaw in it as far as I'm concerned. I'm 6 ft tall average build and like to sit maybe just little low in my seat. Not too low as there's still plenty left to bottom out. But in my "comfy" spot as to seat adjustment the bottom of the dash cuts off bottom line of the speedo display. (see below) In order to see the "full" display I have to adjust seat to what I feel is uncomfortable with. so instead I just lean forward and peek over the edge to read any info ... That lip at the bottom should slant down lower. Anyone else or just me? |

C63s coupe - 4100lbs v8
M6 coupe - 4200lbs v8 M4 coupe - 3600lbs i6 I think someone needs to compare the C63s coupe to the M6. Every review of the M4 vs the C63s is the same, talking about the C63s' greater straight line performance but the extra weight dulling it slightly. I'd really like to see the comparison but with the M6 out of production I doubt we ever will |
