Question to those with M Sport
Now when dust has settled and it seems we arrived to consensus on almost every question, I wanted to ask if you feel front splitter and rear diffuser are actually improving the looks? Or it's better to stay classic without them? Honest opinions wanted. Especially interested in opinions of those who had or (hadn't have) installed M Performance splitter/diffuser for a long time and can finally say what he/she thinks really. Because I know often some mods look good initially, but as time passes - owners change their mind.
I do understand that initial knee-jerk reflex says it's better with M Performance splitter/diffuser, but I'm looking for aftertaste so to speak. What is the opinion after some time (months/years)? The reason I ask is that from time to time I stumble upon photo of a M Sport without M Performance add-ons and I appreciate how clean it looks and how talented BMW designers were to make something like that. I can't come to conclusion if it looks better with or without M Performance front/rear splitter/diffuser. I also understand that often in person things look a lot different than on photos. Even color can make a difference. I have AW if that matters. Last edited by DuSh; 08-01-2018 at 04:41 PM.. |

100% with ..... especially if you are mineral white or dark gray or whatever you name it. BMW CF looks so nice i cant take my eyes from it. I put red quarter inch tomato red 3m tape on front lip and side flaps. I like it. Some probably dont . Its all about personality.

With for sure... I now see many Msport without the front lip and it looks incomplete. I also think the F15 Msport with the front lip looks many times better than the X5M with or without a RKP front lip. If I had purchased another F15 today, a fresh new front Carbon Fiber lip would be waiting in my garage to be installed before the X5 arrives from the factory.
With that said, some eye candy for you DuSh

If you have the money or willing to spend the money, the 3D Design one are killer. But the downside is, it's $2500 each for the lip and diffuser. Crazy price but better looking than the M performance.

I personally love the rear diffuser but hate the front splitter. The rear piece is more hidden and subtle, as to where the front splitter is so in your face and almost looks like an afterthought.

I love the look of the front lip on Msport. But someone brought up a good point that living where there is snow, and a lot of it might prove to be too much. I think that is one mod I won't be doing now. Just don't feel like spending the time and money just for it to get destroyed when I ultimately become the snow plow going down my street.

I had BMW install both prior to delivery, and haven’t regretted it one bit. I love the look now just as much as the day I picked her up.
I’m considering picking up a F85/6 and have already decided that it would be my first mods if I do. |

I'm a huge fan of the BMW front lip on the X5. Think it completes the front end to be honest. Never a fan of the diffusers on the rear. Think they look out of place. But I do like them on the X5M. Particularly the acrapovic.

Wish they made more options like the M4 and M5 Lips. Even the X5M seems to have more options. I wish the made one like these for us. Something different.

Still absolutely love it, especially the front. It somewhat completes the aggressive but still subtle look that should have been there to begin with.

I inquired about that in a different forum and consensus is that oem one holds really well for such a low sitting and substantial lip. CF hides chips good enough.
