Question Can't add M Performance Spoiler for VPC/PIA Install, CA citing "Quality Issues"

So my M3 is on a ship about 4 days from NY. I tried to add the non-CF, non-highkick, standard poly "M Performance Spoiler, Painted" (Z50) to my order for VPC/PIA install. I believe the list price is $455.

My CA called to say he couldn't find the option to add in the system so when he reached out to BMWNA they said there was a fitment/quality issue for the M Performance Spoiler and that they were no longer installing them at the port.

Has anyone heard about this? That's a bummer if true.

I'm getting a boring Alpine White with an even more boring sunroof so I would like to have the standard M Performance Spoiler painted to match.

Looks like this... (not my car)

Nothing wrong with boring alpine white with boring sunroof

...but yes you're right to not want cf on that particular spec, I had the oe cf rear diffuser on the car and took it off as it just didn't look right

Ps: on 'our' spec id suggest removing the wang all together and embrace the bore

Haha! Yes, I love having a sunroof so I consciously ordered it despite the eye-rolls!

So I actually have the carbon fiber diffuser on my list for a port-install but have been going back and forth because, to your point, may look off being the only carbon piece on the car. Now your comment makes me want to remove it all together!

Is that the CS hood?

Cf diffuser needs the cf lip, trunk lip etc to tie it all together imo, and I'm over the cf exterior thing tbh - it's just a cleaner look with white diffuser, if anything best of both worlds would be painting the mp diffuser body colour

I've always been pro sunroof, it also helps the f80 in hearing the real exhaust sound with roof popped and reduces nvh inside the cabin with a metal roof

Yes I have the oe gts hood - I also went matching bore engine cover

Ps: life hack with the sunroof, after you one touch open, hit the open button again and it'll go back further to expose full cutout opening - warm night, roof open, hearing exhaust and intake, the haters don't know what they're missing hahaha

I appreciate the feeback on the diffuser. Anything carbon will need visual balance and that’s what I’m struggling with.

Is there a lesser expensive poly rear diffuser that can be painted as PIA at the VPC? That might work great.

Not from bmw - they only do the diffuser in carbon

There are frp reps on eBay you can buy, even that come pre painted

See this thread - eBay link still works

I am super particular so not sure I’d go that route.

Thanks for making me re-think everything now haha!

Well, I guess it’s back to square one if anyone knows why I can’t order the M Performance Spoiler painted... sales guy said as per BMWNA email it was because of a quality issue. Not sure if it’s the point that I want it painted or that he just doesn’t know how to order it.

Curious if you had any old pics of your car with the carbon diffuser?
