X5 issues
Disappointed big time with the X5. Paid USD 152,000 with local taxes.
It's a brand-new car manufactured in USA At only 580km on the meter, after few weeks of usage here are the faults and issues. Steering hum when turning. Suspension noise coming from front sides, spreading to the center along the steering rack, as if an old vehicle badly maintained. Thumping noise from brake booster. Also comes when park brake is engaged. Driver seat belt warning malfunctioning, even at 50kmph no warning. Two hub caps lost, weaken bonding, emblem comes off. Chrome molding on rear bumper came off, weak double sided sticker. Speed warning does not rest and does not warn if speed is exceed, even after dropping speed below the set limit by 10kmph. Does only 11 km per liter of petrol on expressway at 100kmph, on eco pro. Auto lights want turnoff in broad daylight. There was nothing covering the sensor. Boot door makes noises, as if an old vehicle badly maintained. What a disappointment. Dealer is willing to cover with warranty. Who wants to remove all parts and repair a brand-new car. Does X5 have any quality control at all before releasing the cars to customers?

Are you saying that you just purchased a NEW 2017 X5 that was built in December of 2016 and remained unsold for 20 months? And you paid $152k USD? If so, this should have immediately raised red flags in your mind.
The issues you describe are not normal for the X5. I would be willing to bet something seriously bad happened to this vehicle during the 20 months it wasn’t sold and it was subsequently repaired poorly.

These would not be issues raised with any measure of frequency, at least that I recall reading.
I would speculate there’s more “back story” to your X5 than you may be aware of. |

That's actually just 9L/100 km or 25.87mpg, which is actually good result for such a heavy car.

It is brand new as far as usage is concerned, please see the picture. BTW I had the car from April 2018 and these problems started coming up one by one.

Thanks, it's just that who would want a brand new car removed. Hope they will not scratch or damage other components in the process or could fix it without removing too many components.

So you've actually paid $152k for a car which is not an m-sport, and bought from the dealer (prestige automobile?), which was manufactured in 2016/Dec? I'd say get a replacement or ask them to extend the warranty for 5 years if you are keeping the car.
I've never seen an emblem with blue outer ring as yours. Maybe someone replaced the originals with this one and used cheap adhesive? And how do you know it was made in the US? US plant don't manufacture right-hand drive cars unless it was manufactured in Germany, shipped to US, stayed in a US warehouse for 10~15 month and shipped to Colombo. Also as others mentioned don't expect large SUV to do well in fuel. You might need to look for Prius or something like that. What you get is actually good for motorway driving. Hope dealer will sort out your issues and enjoy your new ride! |

It is very unfortunate that I never enjoyed a single drive in this car. Almost every day it's a test drive as had to experience different noises, or had to listen carefully to see if the noises got worse. One consolation is that they will look after the car for 2 years.
