Please Delete. Problem was nothing.

The right rear door on our X5 will not shut. The soft close appears to be not working. Pretty sure it opened while driving. And nothing will get it shut all the way. Have already checked the latch. It had fallen closed somehow. So I opened the latch again. And same issue.

Does anyone have any insight on this?

Built 7-2014

Thanks in advance

EDIT:

Please delete, The problem was something else totally unrelated so to speak.

If it were me I'd take a screwdriver and pretend it's a latch and insert it into the lock to see what it does. Pull on handle and apply pressure to open the lock again.

Well. Now that I’m home. I find out the story. The vehicle was oiled today and they removed the striker plate and it wasn’t put back where it was supposed to be...

Readjusted the plate. All is well. My wife isn’t vehicle savvy. Even though she wants to be lol

Yup. It came from Oregon. And now resides in Pennsylvania where everything rusts. So we got it oiled to keep it nice.
