High mileage 5.0?'s
Currently have a 2015 f15 with 80k miles have owned since new. Rather than take 25k from the dealer on trade (or less) i am thinking about keeping it as a "station car" etc. curious if others on here have put a ton more miles on these and how they've held up. Mine is currently in with some injector/coil issues but its the first problem we've had with it. Or once these start going is it all downhill from there?

Are you willing to sell it? It's very rare unique engine 5.0 - I'm ready to pay the price of two new 2019 X5 of your choice. I have a buyer ready who buys collectible cars. Your 5.0 is probably a prototype stroker 5.0 engine. BMW probably made 1 or 2 of those. You've hit a jackpot man!

5.0...Mustang!
Why so many people misplace the decimal on all these latest BMWs? Where do X5 owners get 5.0 or 3.5? Which BMW models out right now have a motor that matches the badge? 320i is the only one that comes to mind |

Edit - sorry, misunderstood you, if $25k is their price, I'd keep it and invest in 3rd party extended warranty for drivetrain only. |

Because in the past, the last 2 numbers did indicate the actual displacement.

47,xxx Miles here. Zero problems. Regular maintenance only. I just stopped by the dealer this weekend and checked out the 2019. Honestly I wasn't that impressed. I like it, but nothing jumped out at me, like yeah I want to trade. I was considering trading soon, but after sitting in it and playing with the tech, while it's nice, it's just not enough to make me jump yet. And I know I would get used to the interior and then look at mine and think it looks old, for some reason I like the layout of the f15. It was a white xline and looked plain. Maybe once I see an msport, I might change my mind.
They also had a brand new 2018 X5M with $111k sticker. How much of a bath is someone going to take on that when they sign the paperwork. 20-30k right off the bat. |

I have 51,500 miles, and I have never been stranded because my car died somewhere, so I would say it's not a concern.
The spark plugs, fluid changes, all services done on the engine. I recently replaced a "could fail" part (crankshaft ventilation assembly) that didn't break yet. In terms of consumables, now I have spent about $9750 for 3400 gallons of gas in these miles, so not the cheapest motor to run.
