Rogue Engineering Crank Pulleys Review
I have been asked by numerous members of this forum to post a review on the Rogue Engineering Crank Pulleys, so here it is:
I am VERY happy with them, you can feel the difference in power especially at higher rpms (above 5500rpm). The install took about an hour and a half for a local shop that did it for me. The pulleys are only $385, and for 8hp and 8tq - I think its more then well worth the $$. Its kind of difficult to really tell the difference because I had the Eisenmann Race Exhaust installed just a couple days before the pulleys went in, and the 2000 km service was done around the same time as well. So all those factors also contributed to the increase in power that my butt dyno is telling me. If your looking for a huge power increase, this obviously isn't for you. It won't make your M3 feel like a completely different car, but you will defineltly feel the difference (I especially feel the power increase in 2nd and 3rd gear). I have attached an image of the pulley as it was delivered to my office the next day from Rogue Engineering. If your considering this mod, don't hesitate its under $400 and it gives you power. There is no downfall, there is no negative to this mod. The lights do not dim when under acceleration or any other time for that matter. If you have any questions, feel free to ask guys!

Almost 2 hours labour. I wanted to dyno it stock, before Eisenmann and Rogue were installed! But I got too excited when they came in on the same day, so I just installed! I want to dyno it still, but who knows the power difference since I didnt dyno it stock!

I got mine installed about 3 days ago but I don't feel any difference. What are you suppose to feel that is different after installing the pulley exactly?
My pulley is squeaking for about 3-5 minutes after startup as I drive or rev it on neutral. I paid $300 for install. =( |

I am always skeptical of pulley swaps. I am fairly certain that the factory pulley is its size/weight for harmonic balancing. I would be curious to see the long term effects of these other pulleys. To me 8 Hp, is not worth the crank/ bearings having issues. With the high RPMs in this motor I could see the crank developing a crack at a journal or the bearing wearing/seizing with the balance and/or vibration frequency being altered. Just my .02 for what is worth.

I've put about 6k miles on my RE pulleys. A buddy of mine having troubles about the belt slipping/breaking but mine is working fine thus far.
Weird how you feel the difference above 5.5k, I think the exact opposite. I find it VERY noticeable under 3-4k in how much faster the car picks up. It's 8whp/8wtq throughout the whole power band, so 8wtq is very noticeable/useful under 3k. Also my milage improved a solid 1+ mpg average per tank. Well worth the $ but warranty issues does scare me a bit. If I were u I'd go dinan just because of the warranty and they claim it's the most aggressive pulley. RE is on the conservative side I think. Up to you but I've been happy with my RE pulleys
