FS: Damaged 2011 ZCP E90 M3 (DCT, 55k miles)
Hi all, Gauging interest on this, but I just picked up a totaled 2011 ZCP E90 M3 from a friend with 55k miles. Likely going to part it out, but wanted to see if anyone wanted it as is. If you have body shop connections, I imagine this could be fixed as long as you could source the parts and perform the work. This could also make for an excellent race-car if you have the abilities to get it track ready. If it's something you wanted to fix for the street, you would need to take the salvaged title and have it re-certified in your state (process could be different depending on the state, but I'm not an expert so don't hold me to that.) I went to the inspection yard this morning and took a look at the damage in person. Besides the front right (passenger) corner of the car, the rest of the car is in great shape. The engine doesn't start, but that is due to the blown BST (normal in an accident). I'll be swapping that out to start it and make sure it runs, but I'm 99.9% sure the engine/transmission are fine. The damage (from what I can see) is as follows:
I'm sure many of you will have questions and I'll do my best to answer them. I also want to be as transparent as possible, so please ask if you think I have missed or overlooked something (or want more detailed photos of something specific). Thanks! Dibs on the wheels if they're in good shape if you decide to part out.

Another wise poster on this forum once said, "This car is like a really hot girl who got a meth habit, lost half her teeth and got HIV then got into rehab and miraculously cleaned herself up. Now she has the HIV under control, new good looking fake teeth, and is at least functional and hot again. Would I date or marry that? Hell no. Might be good for a free weekend driver though if you're desperate." |

It'll get up and running again if you put 15 grand in it or more. And you know if we have to, overnight parts form Japan...

The previous owner of this car (my buddy) has been on the track a bunch of times. He wasn't doing anything wreckless that caused this to happen. For those of you who aren't familiar, West Side Hwy is really slippery when it's wet. I think he regularly drove in MDM mode. Shit happens I suppose!

Took the busted fender off (for now) to get better pictures of the frame. Clearly the fender apron is toast. I would think that you could easily cut that out, lightly pull the shock tower, and then weld in a new one. From dead on, the shock tower doesn't even look that off.
Next, I'll tackle the suspension to get that busted wheel off so I can get better pictures of what's going on there. Lot's of offers on the car so far, but it's still here (for now). |
