Hp Use gauge in Sport Mode

I just noticed that while in Sport Mode, there is a horsepower gauge at the bottom of the tach. Was interesting to see how few horsepower are usually used. It only maxed out under very, uh, spirited acceleration.

Is that a new in 2016 thing? Anyway, I assume you also know you have both HP and torgue gauges you can put on your screen any time? And yea, it takes like 10 hp to keep a car moving once its moving.

It may be new for 2016, but I can’t answer that. It’s a curved slider thing that replaces the ‘economy’ gauge that’s there in comfort mode. I do know about those hp and torque gauges and they’re kind of cool. I never really use them though.

Guess I'll need to try sport mode and see if it's there on my 2015. I have had the car in sport mode for less than 5 minutes total.

I thought my HP gauge was broken having had it on the screen for 6 months. In normal driving it doesn't even move off the stop. Last night I had a spirited drive and realised as mentioned above the car just uses no hp to move. Once foot to the floor the gauge was spinning.

My '15 has it as well. It's not as precise as the gauge. Most of my driving is around town in a big city, so I just don't see the point of sport mode since it decreases already bad gas mileage. It's plenty fast off the line as is for any realistic city driving. The one time that comfort mode bugs me is if I'm on a busy highway/street cruising at 40 or so, and the tranny has shifted into a high gear and then you see and opening in the next lane and punch it and it just sits there.

Now that we know Sport mode in Dynamic Drive is not the same as Sport mode for the transmission, and the two don't duplicate each other with regard to the drive-train, we'll have to start clarifying whether it's Sport mode, Sport mode, or Sport*2 mode!

But that said, I don't use Sport mode much at all either... or Sport mode... and never Sport*2 mode.

Lol. Those 'gauges' are not accurate and are actually linked to the throttle position. They are for fun but nothing more. Please don't assume they are anywhere near accurate.

Same as above post. Those 'gauges' don't actually measure hp.

If you want a quick up shift in any driving mode, just slap the shifter to the left. The tranny will upshift right away!

Yeah, by more precise I just meant the one in the cluster is more crude in what shows. Never really thought about how they actually measure anything because they are kinda boring even if they did measure accurately. But it must measure more than just pedal position because as you reach speed they drop.

They aren't purely throttle position but do seem to be somewhat related to what the car is doing.

For example in 3nd gear I can't max out torque and power in the wet. If it skips slightly at the bottom of second gear as boost comes on it might limit the car to ~500-600nm for the next little bit, then sometimes as the electronic nannies lift off it can swing backup to 700nm near the top of the rev range which does actually correspond with what the car is doing.
