Dealer Says No Way!!!

I went to my dealer and offered $500.00 over invoice on a sedan with dct almost loaded.I had a cashiers check for $25,000.00 . I did not have a trade in, ,I did not want a lease,I showed the CA the cashiers check .I just wanted to buy the car .they said no way!!

Dude, you were misinformed! Put the $25K back in the bank. The invoice deal is on the 6MT. DCT cars go for couple of $K below MSRP.

DCT is more desirable and therefore more expensive as it opens the market to soccer moms (and hockey moms) to drive the M3 around town. Matter of fqact I saw a nice middle-aged lady drop off her kid at school yesterday in a nice all white DCT.

Most probably you can get your wish on an MT M3 on the lot.

I wouldn't say what he was trying to do is totally out of the question. It just depends on the dealership and how slow their sales have been.

I figure November will be the crunch month. They'll have the 09's on the lot and will be desperate to shift the 08's.

If they're still playing hardball I'll order simply an 09 from one of the board sponsors on this site.

What amazes me here in CA is the amount of E93's that are available. There's a lot! Just too expensive for this economy I assume?

The best way to feel things out like that are what you did by checking west coast inventory for DCT, then also checking how long the car you want has been on the lot (lower right hand of sticker) If it is getting close to 90 days then that works in your favor, less than 45 days and it does not help. Month End can help quite a bit if the dealership is down on numbers. Honestly give it a few days and call back and see where your CA sits and what he can get the manager to let it go for. He knows you are serious so he should assume that you are not trying to shop around.

I ordered my for 4.5k under MSRP. Just call around, don't limit yourself to your locale. Check other states.

Especially if you live in NJ or CA or any other high priced state.

What kind of deal did you get on the '09 you ordered? Why not just ask for the same deal, or maybe a little better deal? After all, you still get the 2.9% financing, which is nice even if you are putting down $25k. Of course, you do lose out on the '09 updates however.

Can you give me a bit more info on this? I'm pretty sure my dealer (irvine Bmw) will match an offer that i can establish.

guys, just be patient... if this economy situation worsens, purchase decisions on luxury items like this will freeze ... car dealers will become insane to unload inventory to cash. This could be a cash buyers dream scenario.... the tables turn from the good heady days when the dealers slapped those $5,000 markup stickers.... and we had to eat it. Payback time is acoming.
