question about new wheels setup
Hey guys!
I have a M3 F80 with stock iron brakes and stock wheels. I´m looking for a new Apex Sm-10 or Ec7 setup in 18". My question is, if I mount tires on 18" in the future if I want to improve my braking, the 18" tires are a limitation to buy brakes? If it was a problem, I'd buy a new setup but in 19". Thanks in advance. |

I am planning to get a 19" set up (from the current 20" on my ZCP) as I like the tire options better and will be 90% street. That said there are excellent big brake options that will fit under the 18" Apex wheels, AP Racing brakes from Essex are a great example but there are many others that would work. Most track day guys run the 18's.

The Essex/AP brake setup and the PFC Z54 brake setup (with custom mounting bracket) both easily fit inside 18” wheels. You do not need 390 mm, 400 mm or even larger diameter rotors on this car. The key is a well designed rotor with a large number of vanes to pump cooling air thru the rotor. I’m running the Essex/AP 9668/9449 372 mm/365 mm setup and I’ve had zero braking issues with PFC race pad compounds (11, 05, 03 and 01).
