Shorter coliover springs

Hi! is anyone running a shorter front spring than what your coilover kit came with to be able to run a wider rim and get reasonable clearance? I'm running Öhlins coilovers and will be using a 9,5 x20"rim and i see that it will be extremely tight between tire and spring. How much shorter spring do you use if you have done this?

Shorter may not help. The lower spring collar may still be right next to the rim. Run a 5mm spacer, I do.

A spacer will not work with a 9,5" wide rim with 25 in offset. I have already measured that up. A shorter spring would help as the spring platform doesn't interfere with the rim. It would sit next to the tire wall which is further away from the tire as the shock is angled inwards.

Why not? I had a 20x10 et25 with 5mm spacer in the front.

Edit: How would a shorter spring helping with your clearance issues?

I have a 5in front spring on my MCS dampers, everything sits above the tire now and I can for fit big ole tires up front, currently on a 295 for street, 305 for track.
