MDM and exhaust
My m240i understandably with MPE gives more POPS and BANGS on overdrive or when downshifting with paddles in Sports mode than my M6Comp with Sport exhaust even when M6 is Sport+ everything, manual gearing and being driven with DSC completely off
I have been reading in the original M2 forum that MDM gives more POPS and BANGS than even DSC off Is it the same for M6 or M6 Comp?

If you’re talking about the continuous burbles on overrun, you’re not going to get that with your M6’s set up. You will get an occasional bang or pop, but it won’t be consistent. That has to be tuned in if you want it. My tuner actually suggested against it, so I listened.

Sport or Sport+ with shifts set to #3. I think the key to achieving those occasional bangs is manually shifting rather aggressively. i.e. revving it out to 6500+, downshifting into 2nd at 40mph, 1st at 20mph. Just my experience.

I have a mild burble which allows for some pops. Aggressive version sounded like a machine gun and was obnoxious. This video is mild.

It's not too much but it's noticeable. I'm happy with it. |

Help a dumb ol' boy out, here.
Other than wanting to frighten domestic pets or attempt to impress 20-something kids, what's the purpose of pops and bangs? Doesn't that just continue to feed excess fuel into the motor to decrease gas mileage for the express purpose of creating a public nuisance and attracting the attention of local law enforcement? Asking for a friend... ;-) |
