Nbt to new nbt evo

Hey guys I have a 2015 x5 with the nbt head unit it may possibly be have answered but I keep running into the same threads when searching.

My question is can I purchase a brand new nbt evo head unit from say 2018-2019 x5 from the dealer and have them program it to my vehicle? Would there be anything else needed besides the wlan antenna? Special coding? Would I loose anything? Would it work properly?
This way I can get the CarPlay and screen mirroring
Sorry for the many questions
Thanks in advance for the help

1. If CarPlay is worth $2000+ to you then go for it, just know dealers won't retrofit it.
2. Depending on your car options you may need other components beside the wlan antenna (atm module, atm emulator, wiring looms etc)
3. Yes, you'll need fsc codes, change VO, etc
4. Not if it's done properly
5. Depends on 3

IMO not worth the hassle.

Thanks for the assist, I figured as much but thought I would ask since I prefer doing the OEM route
Thank you

Totally understand, that's the same route I went on my 2007 e92 and retrofitted to CIC. Unfortunately the evo retrofit is more than double for what I paid for cic and a lot more work.
