what's the normal warm oil temperature on 35i?

Hello

I have a 2017 X5 35i and it seems that my car warms up pretty quick and the oil temperature reaches 195~200 very quickly maybe 5 mins into driving or less? then it goes near 240 ish..

I am only concerned because I have F06 M6 and it takes a while before it reaches 195~200 temperature and even longer to hit 240 ish..

Is it normal that my X5 reaches the oil temperature mentioned above quicker than M6? or should I be concerned? the car runs perfectly though

Your V10 or I suppose V8 because you have a GC runs a bit different than the Inline 6 of the N55 that's in your X5. Normal operating temp is actually 250F.

Also the oil weight you are using can have an effect on temps.

Nothing to worry about.

The N55 likes to run hot and get up to temp for best fuel econ and emissions testing.

by the way Does this mean the car shouldn't be driven hard until the temp reaches near 250?

Generally a good rule for all vehicles... but before getting on it I let it get out of the cold zone on the gauge... and before any hard driving / sport mode I wait till its at op temp.

Mine hardly ever reaches 200 deg. It hangs out mostly around the middle line between 140 & 200.
