Hood open warning, latch/sensor replacement

Hey all, after searching I've seen a few threads started on this issue but can't find any of them with an actual conclusion.

https://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1732897

Quick summary: When driving I/wife randomly get the "hood open drive carefully" warning, which for the first couple times I of course made sure the hood was secure. We went made 6 months and got not further warnings, now it sometimes happens once a month, once a week or 3 times a day so I've figured I'll order the replacement part as it's pretty cheap.

Part# 51237308068 appears to be it, I'm just curious if anyone's replaced it and it's as straightforward as a couple screws and the electrical connector? Or if there's anyway to clean/repair the sensor itself?

Thanks!
