Either Chinese MMI or Headunit swap to NBT EVO with Apple CarPlay.

Other option is an android unit swap which is what I did to gain a 1080p screen. Not the cheapest but works great for carplay and android auto wirelessly.

I went with Bimmertech. Pricier than some of the other options from China, but they do provide software/firmware updates and have been very responsive when I have had any issues. I have been very happy with the unit since I was able to rectify some connectivity issues.

FYI, the megathread on Andream, Road Top, etc (various Chinese options) is in the F30 section. Look no further for any possible questions you may have.

I don't know much about these. But what's your opinion on something like this? Seems well priced.

I got a roadtop box for $200 on amazon. No issues at all and it was super easy to install.

For this Road Top module, you will need to connect the Bluetooth to that module instead of to the car right?

I have one of the older ones. As long as you have updated the firmware, you can select for the car to handle phone calls and not to run through the module. I keep mine paired with both at the same time and don't have any issues.

Nice to know that. Was browsing at multiple website looking at the module but none mentioned about this.

Yeah, it was a firmware update in March/April that enabled the option for the OEM system to handle calls. Most of the websites still have screenshots from the first versions (stretched out screen, etc). For those that didn't want to do the OEM option, the update also has some type of microphone setup to avoid the whole echo issues if you let the MMI handle the calls.

However, this is only for the MMI units though. I don't think that the Android screen replacement options have this option.

When it comes to the MMI, stick with the bigger names. Some discussion on smaller companies selling refurbished ones. Bimmertech is probably the best but most expensive and then Andream/Road Top/Carlinkit.

I can vouch that Bimmertech is very responsive to any issues and after receiving a firmware update, my unit runs perfectly. That's not to say the other units won't, but honestly after installing the unit, it would be a pain in the a** to have to rip out due to it malfunctioning. Not to mention you prob won't get much of a warranty from the Ali Express varieties. That said, it ultimately comes down to your risk tolerance, as the ebay/Ali Express units are significantly cheaper.
