NBT Evo Retrofit Issues

Hello!
I have a 2015 F15 with, from the factory, the NBT unit. My father and I decided to retrofit the NBT Evo headunit since, to us, this was the best way to get Apple Carplay. Plus, the Evo has a better interface, etc. It is important to note that ONLY the headunit was purchased (we already have the correct idrive controller and the Evo can be coded to work for an apix 1 screen). After installing it, wiring the OABR port, coding the Evo to the VIN, and installing the fsc's for the unit, everything worked! However, I wouldn't be posting this forum unless there was some sort of issue right.
Shortly after install, we started experiencing the black screen issue that some of you may be familiar with. At first, this issue would only happen occasionally on start up, and a simple reset fixed it without a hitch. In an attempt to rid this glitch, I flashed the Evo to the latest software available with the latest PSDZ data from Shawn. This, however, was unsuccessful and actually worsened the black screen issue, meaning it would occur more frequently than before the flash. After searching forums for people that have had the same issue with this retrofit, some suggested to flash back to 03/2018 software, or get an Apix 2 screen.
In an attempt to save some money (the apix 2 screen is not cheap), I tried the first option. I got the 03/2018 PSDZ data and attempted to flash the headunit back. Everything that I tried did not work; I tried every trick in the book regarding flashing to get this to work, and regardless of what I do, I end up with the headunit being stuck in flash mode. The only way to recover is to sw deploy with the latest PSDZ data to get the headunit back to normal. This is a section of the log file that I have:
</blFlashTA>
</previousRun>
</talLine>
<talLine cause="ta_1" startTime="20210729-213426.808" endTime="20210729-213426.816" diagAddress="63" baseVariant="HU_NBT2" status="NotExecutable" id="tl_28">
<preparation id="prep_2" cause="ta_1" status="NotExecutable"/>
<authentication id="auth_2" cause="ta_1" status="NotExecutable"/>
<finalization id="final_2" cause="ta_1" status="NotExecutable"/>
Is there anyone that can make sense of this error? I should mention that the I-Step level for the Evo is 03/2019, and I have read somewhere you cannot flash back an ecu past its production date. If flashing back to an earlier software is not possible, should I just buy the apix 2 screen?

Are you sure you don't have a defective NBT unit? Check this thread here, I don't think you need a screen to make it work properly.

I haven’t ruled out a defective head unit. However, I don’t think this is likely as I found a forum saying that these black screen issues can be solved by flashing the head unit back to an earlier software. Is there a guide on how to do this since I seem to be doing something wrong?

Headunit would need to be virgnized now in order to downgrade it.
You can't simply downgrade it with just loading old software with E-Sys.
Correct steps:
1. Virgnize (Clear V850)
2. Flash with 18-03 to be able to use APIX1 screen
3. Code it properly then load FSC set with CarPlay Fullscreen

Thanks for the reply. What is the correct SGBD file to clear v850? I ask this because I believe I am missing it.

You can clear V850 with .prg file after 20-07 ilevel.
Either SSH manually or other solution.
Prg file is DEV_UDS

I am conveniently missing DEV_UDS. Is there any way you can share this file with me? Also, the Evo's Ilevel is 03/2019 I believe, but I updated it to 2021 Ilevel. Is this okay?
