Coding

I don't see much here on coding but I coded my car last weekend and I have to say, its much more enjoyable.
Video in motion (DVD and USB)-Keeps me company in traffic
Auto High Beam with the cutoff if there is a oncoming vehicle
Taillights on with the DRL
Several new features added to the NAV
Open and Close windows with the remote as well as the side mirrors
Added several items to the HUD.

More items that I cant remember now, but I am really enjoying.

Let me know your thoughts.

What did it you code it with? I have Bimmercode, but don't recall additional NAV features. What are those? You must sit in a lot of traffic to put on a video. I coded that as well, but knew I'd never really use it. I haven't.

Let me rephrase- I had an expert coder who is my friend -do it for me.
One feature on the NAV is the magnet feature in which you can manipulate your destination route- nice but I can live without.

Man..there's a lot packed tight into that statement. What is a magnet or the magnet feature that allows you to "manipulate" the route? Is this with a touch screen manipulation or do you use the iDrive controller? A little explanation/details of this would go along way.

I do know that the standard iDrive ID4 system (which should carry over to the later ID5/ID6/ID7 systems) can do a lot of things that owners don't realize due to them never digging deeper into the system.

Things like being able to make on the fly changes to the route, changing the type of roads (no toll/no freeway/etc)...by simply moving the controller knob to the left and scrolling down the various options along the left side of the nave screen.

FWIW, coding has been discussed here...but it may not seem prevalent now due to the 6 series coupes/verts/GCs being phased out since 2017-2019 (except for the 6GT which is really (to me) still a 5GT series that they kicked out of the 5 series platform.) Many 6 series owners on this forum have probably coded their cars over the last 3-8 yrs and only the new owners or owners that are just now considering may bring it up now and then. But if you go back to like 2014-2018...you will see lots of threads about coding.

Rightly said- you use the Idrive controller to manipulate the route.
I guess I am late to the 6 series board- 2014-2018 I was a F10 owner, which by the way is much more active than here- no disrespect to us 6 series owners.
I totaled the F10 and kind of took a break for a couple of years and now I am back.
Really happy with this car- only downside is the attention I get- not a bad thing to have .

Ah...thanks for the update. Yep the f06/f12/f13 forums don't have the traffic that the f10/f11 forums have. But that can be due to multiple reasons...the number of vehicles manufactured/sold is a big one, then add how active would that smaller number of owners be on a 6 series car forum.

Then also look at the male to female ratio of owners. These forums tend to be moreso populated by men...with women gracing the forums every now and then...and rarely do they stay around as long as some of the men.

Some of the popular sites like BimForums don't even have an F chassis 6 series forum...but do have a semi-active E chassis 6 series forum.

Are you asking me or Billy?

If asking me...I added turn indicators and the media list (radio & media info/phone nbrs etc) that you can scroll through when you use the rubber scroll wheel on the right side of the steering wheel. The media list used to only appear on the right side of the instrument cluster prior to coding it to appear on the HUD.

I echo what Qsilver did but I have the turn signals in the HUD.
My car was an early build 2014 so I missed out on the 6WB.
Other than the massaging seats and B&O- the car is equipped nicely.
