Cars federalized under show & display cannot be legally sold afterwards (in the US) without explicit permission from the EPA/NHTSA. Good luck to whomever buys this thing.

I'll guess $100k as the final bid and a reserve not met. BaT seems to value 6MT cars more than DCT.

Do you have a rulebook somewhere about this? I'm curious to learn.

Edit: NVM its in the listing:

To any potential buyer of this car, please take note that the vehicle is in the United States under an approved “show or display” exemption. Transfer of ownership must be approved by the NHTSA before the title changes hands. The buyer must also apply for a new “show or display” approval from the NHTSA and provide current photos of the car. Potential buyers should be aware that the vehicle is limited to up to 2,500 miles per year and must be made available for inspection by NHTSA until it is not less than 25 years old.

It'll go way north of 100K.

6MT vs. DCT in out of the equation for this car as the CRT was DCT only. And considering only 67 were built for Europe only, this is probably a 1 of 1 or 1 or 2 car in North America. Only takes a few bidders to drive the price through the roof.

Glad they added that disclaimer in, I know of a few people that had to learn the hard way. Re-federalizing a car isn't cheap either, in the 5-figures, contrary to what most people selling show/display cars might have you believe.

We will find out in a week. Yes I realize this limited edition model was only available with a DCT, my point is that will weaken the demand for the car on BaT.

I believe there is a general lack of market awareness of what exactly this car is which will keep the price suppressed.

Saw this listing too! Nice picture library. I recall BMW made a few CRTs but I forgot how many unique parts were included with this version beyond the CFRP parts such as the brakes.

I think it'll go for $150k+. Way more if it was 6mt. Honestly, I just want the seats out of it; they're hella sexy!

Interesting to note the Frozen e92 6MT just posted on BaT with 10x the miles of the CRT M3 already has a higher bid than the CRT car. Of course the real action wont start until near auction close.

I don't think it's the DCT or knowledge - it's the fact that this is a show and display car. It's costly and regulated by the govt when it comes to transferring this vehicle and it has a very limited amount of actual driving that can be done with it. So ultimately this is an investment piece for someone who thinks theres a market for this particular car.

This car has been on sale (and I'm 5 minutes away from the dealer) for a while. It came up a few months ago and I think the asking price was around $200k but it's been sitting so obviously no takers.

https://www.autosportdesigns.com/veh...rt-lightweight

I recall there being some videos from the past of them hooning around in it a bit, but it seems like that got pulled off Youtube.

Depends what you're after. Here's two R34 Skylines in the same realm that sold for $300k+

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...kyline-gt-r-3/

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...kyline-gt-r-5/

The difference is that there are E9x M3s for sale and available, whereas other "Show and Display" options typically have no alternative.

The CRT is undoubtedly a sweet ride. Tough to reach the big numbers when there aren't any real discernable differences. That said, people will pay bonkers money just for a color

For the money I'd rather have the MR E90 below. Other than the CRT seats and the engine tweaks I like the E90 stripper build better overall and it's probably 20% the price
