I am the second owner, and I purchased it at 13,800 miles. I daily drove it nearly stock until starting to track it in the late Spring of 2019. It has been very reliable, and I've always done the obvious things like warm-up gently and change the oil regularly with the oem oil and filters. I've driven it hard on track, but never wrecklessly. It has never been spun in my entire ownership, which is a good testament to how easy it is to drive fast, given that it was my first track car.

I'm selling to try some different things (including open wheel maybe?…).

It is almost certainly the fastest four door at the tracks up in this region, and it is still street registered and driven to every track day. The car is very well known at The Ridge and Pacific Raceways and with the region’s PCA community, particularly by owners of some very fancy machinery, who are always bewildered by the speed and reliability of this four door BMW.

Ridge Motorsports Park lap time: 1:43.8 on used Pirelli DH 285's on 10" wheels, and 1:45.5 on 295 Yokohama A052 (A052 only run a couple times there for Global Time Attack, though).

Pacific Raceways Lap time: 1:25.4 on used Pirelli DH 285's on 10" wheels (this was in the hottest part of the day and traffic played a significant roll all day, so even faster would've been possible in the morning).

The car has been entered in three time attack competitions:
Global Time Attack at The Ridge 2020: 2nd place Limited Class
Global Time Attack at The Ridge 2021: 2nd place Limited Class
Ongrid Ridge Wars 2021: 1st place Race Class

Some track videos of the car...

Awesome ride. GLWS. Curious, how much did the 1/2 cage run?

Service details on RB's, TB's, Valve Covers? I kind of assume these things have been addressed for such a sorted car but may help check a few more boxes for potential buyer.

Would be curious to see what this thing would bring on BaT. Haven't seen any like this there.

GLWS OP!

Well you’ll certainly see me still. Whether I still have the M3…we’ll see haha.

I’m guessing “TB’s” was meant to be “TA’s”, but those and valve covers are items which are replaced when they show signs of failing, so I haven’t had any reason to replace those.

As for the rod bearings, I’m not in the extreme hysteria group, and am always a bit worried about having a perfectly running engine disassembled and reassembled in any way, but I intended to do them within the next year. However, I’m not going to do them if selling. Gives the next person the option to choose their own anyways, since everyone has their opinion on which shells and bolts to use.

I don’t have any experience with BAT, so your guess is as good as mine. I was under the impression that BAT catered more to show/collector cars than track builds though.

These days seems like BaT caters to German sports cars in any condition.

Thanks for the idea. I’ll definitely look into and consider it if I don’t get any interest locally.

I love it too! Never had, and probably never again will spend as much happy time with a single car.

I believe it sold a few months ago. My friend picked it up and brought it to SoCal where it has already done some track days

Quick Question, how did you connect the two splitters together and how well did it work?

GLWS, thanks

I made a aluminum frame for the lower splitter to give it rigidity in the central section, and mounted the frame to the chassis. Then I just bolted the splitter, lip, and bumper together. I removed them all as one piece when necessary. It wasn’t too difficult.
