Hi,

I don't see on my break in service invoice any mention of them changing my differential fluid. I have 21k on the car right now and am scheduled for service for the 3y service in a couple weeks. I know it should have been changed (and maybe it was), but I want to bring it up to them at the service.

In any case what happens if they didn't change it? What am I risking here and what recourse do I have?

Edit: saw the differential fluid part number on my invoice, though it didn't have the description of the job. Looks like it was done!

You have no recourse for the diff fluid as BMW removed this as part of the break-in service beginning with MY16 M-cars (might have been even earlier years). Changing the diff fluid was not part of the break in service on my ‘17 M3, but I paid out of pocket to have it done.

I wouldn’t worry about any damage, but I would change it out no later than 30k miles as a good (but not mandatory) preventative maintenance practice.

Great thanks!
