who would be a worthy brother to the F06?

I love my F06 but I need a more composed brother in the stable.

I dislike how noisy it is in the cabin, i.e road noise leaking in via frameless doors. I'm looking for a snappy hoonigan that's quiet for the executive long commutes -- and having adaptive + assistive cruise control is a luxury I miss having.

Thoughts? Where did everyone else migrate to coming from the F06/12/10 platform?

Thanks!

Seriously? lollll

Anyone care to chime in? Interested in hearing what the natural progression is from here -- a. the more luxurious option with the same performance; b. the next car that's even more fun.

Audi RS7, AMG GT63 as mentioned (though I think it has frameless windows), E63s..Or, SUV route? Audi RSQ8, X5m, Cayenne GTS/Turbo, etc.

My m6gc’s stablemate is a 971 Panamera GTS. It is more refined than the m6 (it’s a Porsche after all) so it may be of some interest to you. It’s now fully catless with a custom stage 2 tune yet still remains comfortable. But it can also run 0-60 in 2.8 seconds repeatedly.

wowza -- what a beaut. I was considering the same but my concern was the cabin quietness. I'd say best in class would be an S class; so, how does it compare to your 971? Also, does the 971 have adaptive cruise control/lane keep for long distance drives?

Yes, mine has both ACC & lane keep assist as well as night vision. For me they're two totally different cars. An S class is going to weigh heavily on luxury first with some performance components (if it's an AMG variant). A 971 GTS is going to have luxury features, but performance will be evident as well; i.e. the 4 sport seats vs a traditional bench back seat. If you're considering an S-Class, I think you should be cross shopping this with a 7 series of some sort.

I've been a friend's RS7 a few times and it is definitely an option for more luxury with similar performance. I don't like the motorized entertainment screen in the RS7 but the rest of the interior is better than the M6 in my opinion. I'm leaning more towards the M8 gran coupe in the future.

New gen RS7 stepped up their materials for sure

Previous RS7 didn't even have leather dashboards lol
But ofc newer is better, I am quite underwhelmed by Audi's lack of innovation tbh, nothing spectacular with this gen other than that aggressive exterior.

M8 GC has a weird proportion to it, it's not as quite enticing as the M8 Coupe so I probably will lean towards the Panamera or AMG GT 4 door

Same thought process as you. All the newer options are overpriced IMO. So objectively -- I threw in the 2015 s65 into the mix. With the v12 sunsetting it may be a good bet. And not trying to spend $100K+ at the moment.

Slim pickings honestly.

If you don't mind me asking, what's a good purchase price for a used 971 gts? Would like to get something with less than $20K miles on it.

It's really hard to say, especially with the auto market right now. It also depends on your desired options (there's a lot). I was fortunate enough to find mine right before the market took off for a really good price. And it had every option I wanted and only 14k miles. Right now, similiar spec/mile cars are going for 15k+ what I paid a year ago - insane, I know. If you can find a clean & nicely spec'd 2019 for anything under 120k I would consider that a great deal.

Edit: Just seen your post about not wanting to spend over 100k right now and I hear you! Seems like you're into the S classes so I would try to find a local one to test drive (even if its not the spec you want) and then start your search from there. GL!

Nice, thank for the pricing guidance. Much appreciated. That's going to be slightly above my budget -- besides being absolutely horrendous from the back, any thoughts on the '16 GTS? Why didn't you go for that at a lower price point?

The F90 is a bit on the stiffer side ride wise (comp vs non-comp) -- which IMO the F06 the part of the "handling" situation.

Since the F06 provides the performance experience, the stable mate needs to be floatier, good for long hauls/hwys, much more insulated/quieter interior cabin, and of course, haul ass (as fast or faster than the m6).

M760 is also on the list btw.

If you don't like the rear of the 971 GTS you will not like the rear of the 970/970.1 version lol. I had a 2013 GTS so going to the 970.1 made no sense for me plus I did not like the slight facelift. And the redesign of the 971 flows with the current line up from anything Porsche, which is much more asethetically pleasing imo.

My other car is an AMG GLS63. It's a SUV but it has a big bi-turbo V8 and it can haul people and stuff effortlessly.

I actually think the 971 rear is really nicely done. The previous generations seems like the design team just gave up on the rear. Similar to what's happened on the '21 x6m or the older cayennes.

The pictured car above is the aesthetic I'm looking for.

I would say go with that 971 Panamera GTS. Very refined feel to it and definitely good looking! Other option could be the AMG GT. Good luck!

Don't hate, but I posted my M6 GC for sale and ordered a Tesla Model Y Performance. Wish I could keep this M6 forever.

I had a reality check the other day.

1) Warren Buffet doesn't believe on EVs much less in tesla. He says if 10% of the global fleet becomes electric, the grid will explode.

2) A semi truck 16 wheeler with an eventual electric motor takes enough electricity to power 300 average homes not to mention the battery weight alone would reduce its cargo haul capacity.

3) There are not nearly enough powering stations nor enough electricity to power them.

There are no federal tax credits or incentives that will make me buy any EV as of right now 2022.
