Pilot Super Sport Availability

Curious what people are hearing about ongoing availability of the Pilot Super Sports.

It doesn't appear that Michelin is ever going to offer the 285/35ZR21 in the PS4S.

Is it possible to run a different size for the fronts with a PS4S?

If not, does it make sense to buy and store a new set of 4 Super Sports in case they are discontinued? Tire Rack seems to offer both sizes still, but the 325s are backordered at the moment.

It looks like the next best option then becomes some crappy Dunlop run flats that cost a lot more.

I ordered a set from Tire Rack last fall and the rears were delivered in Novembrer/December. My fronts have been pushed out to March...

Thanks...was just reading some posts from you in another thread.

So it looks like second best option is to go the PS4S with 275/35/21 for fronts and same 325/30/21 in rear?

I may just go for a complete set of Super Sports if the fronts becomes available in March as you say. I won't need them until next Summer/'23, but I suppose storing them for a year shouldn't hurt.

You can also run 285/30/21 and 325/25/21 in MPS4S and diameter difference will be 1.1% vs. the OEM setup which is .7% - if you want.

(A lot of people run a 295/335 22" setup and the difference is 1.4%. I've been told by one of my indy shops that the TC can handle up to 2% but some people say it's lower. My shop is very advanced so they probably know, for what it's worth.)

Up to you. Just wanted to let you know that it's a possibility.

I ordered a similar size for my plaid. Been waiting since mid December for my mps 4s.

295/30/21
325/30/21

I recently changed from blackwall premium plus (velvet sidewall and laser etch flag) to blackwall. The blackwall is actually NDO Porsche spec. Other then that it's identical.

Michelin tires especially the 4S is back ordered. But I hear the 5S is coming soon.

Just making sure you know that those sizes are 2.5% difference in diameter. Definitely no good for our transfer case.

I just ordered a set of 285/325 MPSS tires although I still have life left in my current set. Probably good to have them, just in case.

Also, check with your local dealership,
I was looking for a pair of fronts and every local tire shop cant get them
checked with my dealer and they must have the first dip or reserved from Michelin warehouse, they ordered them in and 3 hours later its in my trunk

So is the best bet for Pilot Sport 4S in 295/35/21 and 325/30/21?

Your best bet is sticking with OEM specs.

OEM diameters differ by .7%. This setup would differ by 1.4%. I've been told by one of my indies that the TC tolerance is 2%.

See my post above about using a different aspect ratio on the 285 front to get your PS4S and keeping diameter to .7%.

I just got all 4 corners done at dealer and they had them in 2 days. It cost more than I wanted to spend but I was due for a new set. 🤷*♂️

Tire Rack just shipped my two new fronts. I ordered the full set in September/October I think...

So I have a 5-6/10ths set to burn out and a brand new set for my new BC Forged summer wheels.

If anyone is desperate for a set, you can buy my old ones listed for sale in the classifieds. But I'm asking a lot if I'm going to part with them and go through the effort of shipping etc.

I ordered from Discount Tire and they had them in stock when I called.

That's great. No idea why Tire Rack took so long, but I didn't need them so it was fine.

When Michelins were not available in my country I checked some tests and reviews and ordered Continental SportContact 6 and I'm supper happy with them. Just a tip for those who can't get the M's.

My advice is to check with your dealership. I was shocked when they had them in stock, and even more surprised that they had competitive pricing with the online vendors. Cheers.
