2015 X5M F85 ZF8 (8HP75 New Variant) Manual Neutral

So, got the car moved, which took a lot longer than normal because I found out I have the newer variant on the 8HP75 (ZF8 see link below). Spent hours this morning trying to find info and found it finally on an F90. I ended up using a couple of zip ties and pliers to keep it in neutral. (Pic to come)

This post is just to share the information that I found, so that maybe Google would bring this up for someone else with a F85 in need of switching their trans to neutral manually.

BimmerNewb79, so was the AGA tool worth $412, or would you consider buying the AGA tool?

Given that our F85's are 4-wheel drive, I assume the driveshaft make it incrementally harder to release into Neutral w/o the AGA tool.....

I didn't have the time to wait or the money to spend on the AGA tool. I was just sharing for information and maybe someone else would come up with an alternate. My Hillbilly Engineering (pliers and zip ties) work well enough to move my car from my garage to my shop where I have more room to work on it (1/4 mile with tow strap).

I'm all about DIY methods over dealership and/or over-the-counter expensive solutions.

I'm sure with a pre-fab'ed bike brake cable, a bracket or two, and a bike brake mechanism in the cabin, I could come with a solution that will allow neutral selection from the driver's seat...a semi-permeant solution, and much cheaper than the AGA version.

Thanks for the post. Great info!
