Leatherique - to use on steering wheel?

Is it also a good idea to use leatherique on the steering wheel to maintain/restore the matte finish?

Wondering if it will leave a matte leather finish and want to be sure it doesn’t discolor or fade the stitching.

Thx

I've used it on my seat, wheel, and shift knob. The latter 2 were EXTREMELY shiny, looked like someone had rubbed baby oil on them. I applied the leatherique in the morning, let it sit in the sun, then polished it off with the cleaner. Made it ~50% better. Apparently for best results you're supposed to let the car sit in the sun when it's over 80 degrees, it was only 70 or so when I did it.

Im planning on doing it again now that its 90+ outside. I'm hoping and expecting better results this time around. I still want an alcantara wheel though...

I’ve heard the magic eraser can strip the dye… maybe someone else can chime in here who has been doing it long term?

Yeah, I’m waiting for the July sun to come before having it applied. Going for that matte look. A little scary to hear that things came out glossy.

So, the seats stayed matte in appearance, but the steering wheel and shift knob came out glossy?

No no, sorry. Bad wording on my part. My wheel and knob were glossy when I got the car. They are significantly better, but not perfectly matte like they are when they’re brand new. I think with the correct heat, it’ll be darn near perfect.

Magic eraser is a fine sand paper. It will remove the dye if used enough. Even in your house you're supposed to use it on matte surfaces only. Ask me how I know. 😔

i use chemical guys leather cleaner with a detailing brush for my steering wheel maybe every two weeks, and then every other time I finish the job with leather conditioner and let it sit in the sun for a bit before wiping it off with a wet microfiber....comes out matte every time

the key is to stay on top of the maintenance before the wheel gets shiny

def dont use magic erasers

Seems like color lock might be a good option for the steering wheel… but I was under the impression that I would get a matte finish from leatherique. I’m having a place do it for me, so I’m sure they’ll get it worked out.
