White Smoke?!

Anyone else been having intermittent white smoke issues? It doesn't happen at start up but only if I've been idling for a while or when I come to a stop light.

I've seen some others with the s63tu that have a similar issue. Im running VRSF downpipes with an RK Autowerks Tune. I've been hearing everything from "its normal when youre running downpipes," to the turbo seals giving out and so on. I have no leaks, skips, or lag. Full 700HP 8mpg everytime and I love it.

Please let me know if you've had a similar experience. Thank you all

Could be moisture/condensation in the exhaust pipes. It takes a while for exhaust pipe temps build to start boiling it off. Only other explanation I could think of would be coolant. If it is coolant then you likely have a crack or gasket issue. Keep an eye on coolant levels as the only other way to know is engine inspection.

Weird I get a big cloud of white/grey smoke when I full send on the highway and it disappears after about a second, so basically only when I'm launching hard from a standstill and it doesn't come back when I'm pushing hard at higher speeds... is it an issue? or normal haha

Is it steam or is it smoke? Can you check next time it occurs if you’re not sure which it is? If you can’t tell the difference…then try a google search…this topic has probably cropped up a lot over the decades since many new owners freak out the first winter of ownership. They see white stuff coming out of their mufflers and their first thought is that it is smoke…when it actually is steam.

Know the difference and it may help answer the question or send you on the path to correct the issue.

You are likely just seeing carbon being blown out. These engine do consume oil and the result is carbon build up which is liberated from confines of the powerful hot V engine during spirited driving. I see it on mine and my wife's 550.

On my 13 with 44k mi full dealer service history, I luckily don't have any smoke even under full throttle pulls, and only consumes oil at around 2k mi per quart, all stock powertrain wise.

That's fantastic. My wife's n63 consumes so much I may start buying drums of oil for hers. Mine is not so terrible but I change my oil at 3k mile intervals plus mine does not get daily driven. Add to that I have a stock rebuild from RK so it may be a while before I really see anything.

I am thinking about forged rods and pistons though. I read that the F90 pistons are a direct replacement but not entirely sure if I'll use them.
