Question Price check for e90

BIMMERPOST / Classifieds
Asking Price:
None

Item Interest
2011 e90 Jerez Black on extended Silver, 6MT, fully loaded in really good condition.

68k miles

RB's done @ 63k. TA not done to owner's knowledge. F8x brakes. V2 exhaust, Euro bumper, aftermarket control arms with aluminum bearings (?), and aftermarket sway bar.

Seller says some weeping from the valve covers, but no meaningful oil consumption. Local shop quoted $3,600 to replace the valve covers and gaskets ... then might as well do the TA while in there, so ...

They're asking $42k for it.

So, at their asking price it would be $42k + $3.6k before RB replacement?

$42k too high. i'd say mid 32-36range

$28k? that is a lowball offer.

RBs have already been done. The $3600 is for the valve cover replacement.

OK, I see. I feel that given the mileage their price would be fair-ish for a spotless car (not one that would require 3.6K day one), with mods that you really love and are willing to pay for (basically things that you'd do to the car yourself) and that doesn't need expensive items now, like brakes and tires. Taking all the above in consideration, I'd place an offer accordingly.

PS Pricing is always a delicate matter, but from my experience, good clean cars hold their values. Potential buyers who lowball everyone, most of the time are just damaging their credibility and make any further negotiation very difficult if not impossible. It is very easy to name prices based on nothing (actually there are some forum members who only do that, and I wonder if they ever owned an M3 or if they are considering buying one), but it is always more complicated to find a car that you really like and at the perfect price/deal. That being said, my humble advice is not to miss a car that you really like because of a few hundreds or even thousands, as long as you feel that this is THE car for you and of course, you do have the financial resources to get and keep it. All E9x are now relatively old and every day it becomes more and more difficult to find the right car.
Just the 0.01 cent of someone who sold his first E92, totally regretted it and took 7 months and a lot of work and research to find the second one

Agree with GeoK. The car has some nice mods. But due to mileage and valve covers replacement, I would offer $37k to $38k.

Anybody know anything about the aftermarket control arms and aluminum bearings? From my experience with other platforms, that's getting into the more racing side of the mod scale and can make the ride harsh.

I got my mint 11.5 E90 jerez slicktop dct with 48k in Feb '22 (when the market was HOT) for $35440 otd.
It's nice that RBs are done ($2k job), but silver interior? no thanks. Here's another comparable: https://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1968349

Sounds like you got a screaming deal. This particular car is a 6MT, which is what I've been looking for. What's up with the palladium silver interior that you don't like? I've actually never seen it in real life. I've all of the other interior colors.

lots of folks aren't fans of the palladium interior and to make it extended just makes it less appealing for them.

if you don't mind it or like it go for it! colors are subjective. i'd be willing to pay more for a AW, IB, MB etc color car. Jerez is a color i'd pass on altogether. i'm just a fan of that color on the m3. different strokes for different folks.

"Beauty Is In The Eye Of The Beholder" and for instance, black on extended silver is a very classy combo in my opinion, matching the silver accents of the M3 perfectly.
That being said, if you ask 100 people about aesthetics, you will get at least 101 opinions

And I couldn't agree more on this one "Sounds like you got a screaming deal".

Beauty is only partially subjective. There are other factors that are objective. For interiors, grey/silver looks worse as it ages than the others. You also have the vast majority not liking the color, in ALL generations of M3s, so that certainly tells you something. I didn't mention it so much as my opinion, but rather a bargaining chip - e.i., a grey/silver interior would lower the value versus black which is already less valued than red, for example. You should do what YOU want.

Well my last e92 was LeMans Blue, so yes ... the blues are beautiful, but I've already had that color. My current car is the same gray like Space Grey, so that's out too. I actually like the JB or white on red, but haven't ran across a 6MT sedan lately in the combo.

I'm trying to look at local, newer M3s that have the same palladium silver interior, but I'm not finding any. All the newer M3s with a "gray" interior have it labeled as "silverstone." Are silverstone and palladium the same?

Thanks for the comments. Very helpful.

I was disappointed with the color palette of the e60/e9x, and how uncommon the lemans/IB are or the wrong year (you don't want an 06 E60 if you can help it, for example). But, the Jerez is really beautiful in the sun. You get the classy, glossy black car at night or low light, then you get this mercurial blue to purple in direct, indirect, and filtered sunlight. I'll add some pics a bit later that showcase the colors you see IRL that you seldom see in people's photos here or on IG, of Jerez.

Jerez I've actually see in person. Love it when the blue pops in the sun ... when the purple pops, meh. Subtle enough to not bother me. In overcast ... well, black is always sexy as long as it's clean.

You guys have just kind of started to scare me off from the palladium leather. Pulled up a listing of one with way more miles and older, and yeah, pretty worn out in the driver's seat and not pretty. This purchase would be a weekend toy, so not getting crushed with the DD wear and tear.

all the greys wear terribly, BUT you can have it repaired! Further, get some palladium matched recaros from AMX and it'll be the sexiest interior known to man and extended leather!!!

A few examples of its range, for anyone interested.
