E89 has a ski load-through option!
For people who may buy a Z4 as their only car and also intend to use for winter skiing trips this is awesome news!
Neither Boxter, Cayman not SLK have this. Carrying skis in a roof-mounted ski rack sucks, obviously. Bravo BMW. |

BMW is touting that this pass through will enable 2 46inch golf bags to be carried by the new z4 with the roof closed and 1 bag with the roof open.

I wonder how much it's going to incroach on the interior though - it's one thing in a 2+2 to have things poking through into the back seats, but in a 2 seater I can see that getting a bit crowded. |

Unfortunately it will only fit ski's with a max. length of 170cm. I don't know what that length is in the US metric system. But in this way I would not be able to put my ones in it

Interestingly, length of skis in USA is expressed in metric units - centimeters. With the new generation of shaped skis, which tend to be shorter, 170cm is sufficient for most.
