Interesting info regarding warranty
Hi guys, I was looking through my manual to get the correct oil numbers because I need to put in 1 quart till I go and get an oil change. As I’m looking through the package I opened this sealed packed of booklets and found some of this info interesting and wanted to post to see if any of you are aware of this.
Is this manual telling us we have major engine parts covered up to 7 years or 70k miles? I’m including picts for all of you to see.

The California emissions warranty is more expansive than the Federal Emissions warranty, but only applicable if the car was or is registered in one of the CARB states.

Correct, but it appears that we have more warranty than the 4 years or 50k miles on certain parts than we are led to believe. Going to try and get the entire booklet to post as a PDF to see if other members see something I’m missing or misunderstanding.

Has anyone from those respective states ever had a warranty claim for the stated coverage outside the traditional 4 yr/50k mi?

these items don't appear to be the common failure points on this platform

Have you read the limited rust warranty info yet? I believe it is 12 years….and yes the emissions stuff is 7 years. But I confess…I’m a reader of all the supplemental booklets in the owners manual binder.
And in iDrive…a lot of the info in those paperback booklets is included in the embedded iDrive version…which also has “animated explanations” (aka videos). My f06 has 13 videos…and my f15 has 15 videos.

Many, like myself were probably not even aware that some of these engine parts were covered for 7 years.

Don't get too encouraged. Many of the parts would be covered for emissions perfromance defect and not for any failure. Thermostat coverage would not be for leak but would cover it if the warm up performance fault code had been set. On some models (Not any M model AFAIK) the engine meets SULEV++ or PZEV standard then it gets 12/150 coverage for lots of things if you live in the 11 states that have some requirements that those cars be sold. The emissions coverage is often only known by entering the part number and a defect code into warranty system.
